Live updates: England vs Wallabies, rugby union spring tour international Test match at Twickenham

"There haven't been many games since I've been captain, where we've been the favourites," Wilson said yesterday.

"We're always the the outsiders, not many people back us — and as a group, we enjoy that.

"We believe in ourselves, believe in each other, that we can go out there and do the job.

Last year [when the Wallabies won 42-37], this game was a big turning point for us, which really made us believe that, on our day, we can beat anybody in the world.

"I definitely feel we're a team being more respected. We've had a few tough losses in the Rugby Championship, which we are disappointed with, but we've had some really big wins in which the rugby public back home has really got behind us."

"Firstly, I'd like to question of how many of them are illegal, and I know they're definitely not dangerous there too," Wilson said.

"There's no way Joe Schmidt would coach a team to be illegal at the breakdown.

"To think we've had over 2000 rucks this year, and for them to cherry-pick a couple of rucks out of it, it's quite amusing."

"We talked about loads of stuff and there was a lot of mindset stuff," England's defence coach Richard Wigglesworth told BBC Sport.

"I asked Brendon how he changed that in English cricket, which was really interesting. Then we got into the technicalities of coaching someone one-on-one, what that looks like, his role as head coach in that versus his assistants.

"We sat for a good period of time and took loads from it. They're on to a good thing."

"All we can do is keep investing in the people we've got and I think if any of the people in the room had the opportunity to have a chat with Tane they'd see what a quality young man he is and how hard he's working at his craft," Schmidt said.

"You don't turn up in your fourth Test match and start running the game like you do when you've had 50 Tests.

"You learn from experiences and that allows you to get better -- and getting better is never linear either. There are going to be tough moments for Tane and we know that and there's going to be some really good moments."

"We've learned a lot [from Slipper], but I think no one's going to be able to replace a guy like Slips,” Robertson told a press conference on Tuesday,

"He's got 151 Tests for his country and almost 200 Super Rugby games. So I think, if you're trying to be something that you're not, I don't think that's the way to go about it.

"We’re all good at different attributes, so we're not trying to emulate Slips because we're just not like him. We've got different strengths and weaknesses in our own games.

"I feel that over the last 12 to 18 months we've really built depth in the front row, and we've got some guys that aren't in the squad that are really good props that could easily step into the Wallaby jerseys.

"It's been really exciting to see, but also quite competitive to get that jersey each week.”

"We knew that beforehand. It was no different last year. We were in the same position last year and didn't have everyone available," Schmidt said.

"It's not really a distraction for us, it's an opportunity. You often get dealt a set of cards and … try to put out your best hand.

"I guess if you're going to choose to play in a foreign competition, they [World Rugby] create the boundaries of that competition.

"So, you have to play by their rules, and World Rugby has very clear rules on when players who are selected for international teams have to be made available."
