Nebraska and Creighton could be making history tonight.

The top 20 rivalry match inside the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb. has been sold out for weeks.

So…what does this mean?

Well, the state of Nebraska is known for its large crowds in the sport of volleyball and we all know Husker fans show-out for games inside the Bob. Nebraska’s indoor attendance record for a home match currently stands at 13,870 from 2009 when the Huskers took on UCLA.

But tonight marks Big Red’s third-ever time playing a match inside PBA, where the maximum capacity sits at 15,500 fans.

If the crowd shows up in full-force tonight as advertised, this meeting between the in-state foes will go down in the record books.

And Nebraska is no stranger to breaking attendance records, filling out the football team’s Memorial Stadium with 92,003 fans for the largest attended volleyball matchup in the history of the sport in 2023.

The Blue Jays are carrying their weight too as Creighton has sold out three of their next three matches.

Everyone knows volleyball in the state of Nebraska is just different — and the matchup tonight always means a little more.

No. 1 Nebraska is set to take on in-state foe No. 20 Creighton in the I-80 matchup in Lincoln, Neb. The two programs have met 24 times, with the Huskers boasting an undefeated record against the Bluejays.

Tonight, the battle will be taken to the Pinnacle Bank Arena, marking the third-ever time Nebraska volleyball has played in the 15,500-person venue rather than its usual home court at the Devaney Center. PBA is typically where the Huskers men's and women's basketball teams compete, but the match between the rivals tonight always warrants an elevated stage.

No. 1 Nebraska

Coming into tonight, the Huskers are 2-0 all-time when competing in Pinnacle Bank Arena after their 2025 season opened with a win over No. 3 Pitt and No. 6 Stanford in the AVCA First Serve.

Nebraska should have a lot of confidence coming into tonight, sitting at 7-0 with four ranked wins so far this season. Middle blocker Manaia Ogbechie is coming off Big Ten Player of the Week honors after leading her team to four wins while posting 33 kills on .547 hitting and 12 blocks. Ogbechie has created even more depth on a roster that boasts All-Americans MB Andi Jackson, OH Harper Murray and S Bergen Reilly.

With Ogbechie up front, watch out for that Big Red block tonight as three different Huskers have recorded 15 or more blocks this season.

No. 20 Creighton

But here's the thing. You should never count out Creighton in a fight.

Though the record between the two programs is a tad lopsided, the Bluejays have been within striking distance of taking down Nebraska in the past couple of years. For example, three of their last four matchups have gone to five sets.

The Huskers will need to watch out for Jaya Johnson tonight. The sole All-Big East returner for Creighton can stand her ground in the middle, leading her team in blocks while putting up 1.54 kps. Texas transfer and middle blocker Ayden Ames might also prove to be a threat to the Big Red offense.

Creighton will walk into "The Vault" tonight on the cusp of history. Their matchup against Nebraska has been sold out for weeks, and right now — the attendance record for an indoor Huskers home match is set at 13,870. So if the venue fills to its maximum capacity, their rivalry will forever be written in the record books.
