On Monday, 2 February, the Flame Relay for the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics passed through the province of Bergamo on its fifty-seventh stage, connecting the Bergamo hinterland with the provincial capital in a day filled with emotion. Today's scheduleThe journey began in the morning from Villa d'Almè, in the heart of the Val Brembana, and continued through Ponteranica, Alzano Lombardo, and Nembro. The Flame was carried through historic villages and past mountain views that reflect the deep identity of the region.In the afternoon, the journey continued to Seriate before entering Bergamo, culminating in the final arrival in Piazza Garibaldi.Here, the lighting of the brazier marked the end of the stage, turning into a true celebration shared with the local community.Along the route, the gaze was drawn to iconic landmarks such as the Grignetta, one of the most iconic peaks of the Lombard Prealps, and the Venetian Defence Works that encircle the Upper Town of Bergamo, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017: a meeting of nature, history and the Olympic spirit.Today's torchbearersMichela Moioli, Olympic snowboard cross champion; Sara Errani, Olympic tennis champion in women's doubles; and Martina Caironi, Paralympic athletics champion and Ambassador for Milan Cortina 2026.
