Day six of the Olympic Games is underway with 18 gold medal events taking place across an action-packed schedule in Paris.

Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne and Becky Wilde secured bronze for Team GB in the opening rowing final of the day but there was heartbreak for Helen Glover, who missed out on what would have been a historic gold in the women’s four.

Great Britain missed out on first place by the smallest of margins with Netherlands finishing ahead of them in first.

Andy Murray’s superb surge in Paris will continue alongside Dan Evans with the pair in doubles quarter-final action against Team USA’s Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

Golf action is finally underway with Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick representing Great Britain and Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry flying the Irish flag.

And after an exemplary first few days in Paris – marked by leading Team USA to gold on Tuesday – Simone Biles is back in action in the women’s individual all-around gymnastics final.

Elsewhere, another American star in Katie Ledecky has the chance to make more history in the pool.
