Lions get new adidas kit after Football Association of S’pore inks new partnership

SINGAPORE – The Lions will have a new outfit to show off when they host Indonesia in their final ASEAN Championship group-stage game at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Aug 7, when they trade the iconic swoosh on their jerseys for adidas’ three stripes.

After a 19-year association with Nike, this marks a new era for Singapore football as adidas and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) kick off a multi-year partnership from Aug 1.

Under the partnership, the German sportswear giant will be the official kit supplier for the national teams, and it will also support other initiatives within the local football ecosystem.

It already sponsors the adidas Youth Elite League and will also kit out the Young Lions, as well as provide the official match ball for the Singapore Premier League and Singapore Cup when the new season begins on Sept 11.

FAS president Forrest Li said: “We are grateful to have adidas join us as a long-term partner of Singapore football.

“Their commitment and support will play an important role in advancing the game. We hope this partnership inspires more organisations and Singaporeans to step forward and join us in our journey to bring the pride and joy back to the sport we love.”

Chen Ruiyuan, country manager for adidas Singapore, noted the two parties had been in talks “for some time”.

He added: “We agreed early on that it’s not just a kit, it has to be a partnership that’s worthy of elevating Singapore football and that meant putting resources behind improving the ecosystem, the pathways from youth development all the way through to the league.”

Singapore will join a host of top football nations that adidas already sponsors, including 2026 World Cup champions Spain and runners-up Argentina, as well as Asian giants Japan.

The Lions’ new kits include elements that honour Singapore’s football heritage.

Singapore’s home jersey will sport its iconic red look, with navy blue and white on the collar and sleeves.

Woven into the fabric of the shirt are patterns that represent waves running through the heart of Singapore, which adidas said is a symbol of the hunger of the nation’s athletes and the energy of fans as they seek new heights.

The away jersey sees the return of the Coventry blue colours worn by the team who ended a 12-year drought when they won the 1977 Malaysia Cup under legendary coach Choo Seng Quee – a nod to the Republic’s football history and heritage.

Both kits incorporate adidas’ Climacool+ technology, a high-performance fabric engineered to keep players cool on the field in Singapore’s climate.

Lions captain Hariss Harun said: “Putting on the national team jersey should always feel special, and adidas understands the importance of that connection between performance, identity and pride.

“There is genuine excitement within the squad, and this partnership sends a strong signal that everyone is invested in pushing Singapore football forward together.”

The national team jerseys retail at $99, while the on-field authentic jersey is $169.

Adidas’ offerings will also feature fan wear and culture wear, with new designs released periodically.

The fan wear collection kicks off with a T-shirt designed in collaboration with local visual artist Slac Satu which features the national team’s rallying cry “Satu Nada”.

The full range will be on offer from Aug 2 on the adidas website and app, the adidas Brand Centre Orchard, the FAS website, the official FAS Shopee store, Weston Corp’s website, at stadiums on match days, and selected retail partners and concept stores islandwide.

Another key area of focus under the partnership is fan engagement, with both organisations exploring fan activations, stadium experiences, exclusive content and community engagement initiatives.

Chen noted there have been some encouraging turnouts at games involving local football teams and he hopes to build on the momentum.

In the Lion City Sailors’ historic appearance in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Two final in 2025, 9,737 fans were in attendance at Bishan Stadium.

At the Lions’ most recent home game – a 2-0 win over Timor Leste on July 27 – 4,665 supporters turned out at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

While Chen did not disclose the exact duration or value of the partnership, he stressed that it was long term , noting that “for as long as the partnership does serve Singapore football, we would like to see it continue”.
