Ipswich v Everton – Everton keeper to make 3+ saves

It may be too early in the season to describe this game as a relegation six-pointer, but it is, without doubt, a must-win for both sides.

After seven weeks of Premier League action, Everton and Ipswich recorded just one win. They sit side by side in the league table, separated by a single point.

Ipswich, in particular, desperately need a win after failing to win any of their seven opening games and falling to a 4-1 defeat at West Ham in their last outing before the international break. However, there have been some encouraging signs for Kieran McKenna’s side.

Before that defeat at West Ham, Ipswich had gone four games unbeaten in the league and scored in five of their seven games.

They have registered 13 shots on target in their last three games at a rate of more than four per game. They will cause problems for an Everton side that has faced 98 shots in their opening seven league games – an average of exactly 14 per game.

With Ipswich in desperate need of a win to ignite their season, it wouldn’t be surprising if they put Jordan Pickford’s goal under significant pressure and forced the English goalkeeper into at least three saves.

Fulham v Aston Villa – Both teams to score

Aston Villa played out arguably the most forgettable game in Premier League history during their goalless draw against Manchester United before the international break. Still, they have been consistently among the goals away from Villa Park.

Villa scored two goals in their three away league games and failed to keep a clean sheet on the road, winning 2-1 at West Ham and Leicester and drawing 2-2 against Ipswich. They face a Fulham side that has started the season impressively.

Since an opening-day defeat at Old Trafford, they have scored in every game and recorded impressive victories over Newcastle at home and Nottingham Forest away.

Fulham have lost just twice this season – away to both Manchester clubs – and will prove a tough nut to crack for Villa. Unai Emery’s side may need to score at least twice to return to winning at Craven Cottage.

Man United v Brentford – United to receive most cards

Manchester United and Brentford sit at opposite ends of the Premier League disciplinary table at this early stage of the season.

Brentford’s record of 12 yellow cards and no red cards is the best disciplinary record in the league.

On the other hand, United boast the worst disciplinary record in the league. They received precisely double the number of yellow cards as Brentford and a red card (that was admittedly rescinded).

Brentford are also the least persistent foulers in the division, averaging just 6.6 fouls per game across their first seven games, roughly half of United’s average of 12.1. There is an excellent chance that the hosts will receive more cards on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle v Brighton – Over 5.5 Newcastle corners

Newcastle come into Saturday afternoon’s clash with Brighton having failed to win any of their last three league games. They will look to get back to winning ways against a leaky Brighton side.

The Seagulls conceded eight goals in their last three league games and should present Newcastle with a hatful of chances on Saturday afternoon, resulting in many home corners.

The home side are currently averaging six corners per game in the league and are a decent shout to replicate that average on Saturday.

Brighton, meanwhile, only concede around three corners per game but did concede eight corners in their most recent away trip – a 4-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Southampton v Leicester – Over 4.5 cards

It is not just Everton and Ipswich fighting at the bottom of the Premier League table on Saturday. Leicester’s trip to the south coast will have just as much significance in the fledgling relegation battle, with both sides desperate for a win.

Again, the home side needs three points after a winless start to the season, with Southampton looking particularly vulnerable to an immediate relegation back to the Championship. With that in mind, it will likely be a fiery occasion at St. Mary’s.

Southampton currently boast the third-worst disciplinary record in the league, receiving 21 bookings and one sending-off in their first seven games. At the same time, Leicester are hardly much better, receiving 19 bookings and no red cards.

Between them, they average well over five cards per game, and all signs point to a card-filled occasion on Saturday afternoon.
