Ravichandran Ashwin gets this Chennai street named after him; all you need to know

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has decided to rename Ramakrishnapuram 1st Street in West Mambalam — the residential street of former Indian cricketer R Ashwin — in his honour.The proposal was submitted by Carrom Ball Event and Marketing Company Private Limited owned by the cricketer, which requested that either Arya Gowda Road or Ashwin’s residential street be named after the star cricketer. After review, GCC chose to rename Ramakrishnapuram 1st Street.Ashwin, a Chennai native and one of India’s top wicket-takers in Tests, is known for his match-winning spells and continues to contribute to the game by training students from GCC schools in cricket. He is also set to play for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL season.The official naming ceremony is expected soon.
