CAF: Morocco’s World Cup Resilience Continues to Elevate African Football

Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has commended Morocco’s performance against Haiti in the Atlas Lions’ final group-stage match of the FIFA World Cup.

CAF acknowledged that the Atlas Lions struggled in the first half, conceding two goals and finding themselves under pressure. However, Morocco responded well, matching Haiti’s goals and heading into the break level.

The Atlas Lions could have done even better, creating several chances and potentially finishing the match with more than the four goals they eventually scored.

CAF also reiterated the importance of Morocco’s continued success on the world stage, noting that the Atlas Lions are building on the momentum generated by their historic 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar, where they became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals.

For CAF, Morocco’s victory represents another major moment for African football, highlighting the resilience and tournament maturity “that have made them one of the continent’s strongest teams.”

Morocco began their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil, then defeated Scotland 1-0 and concluded the group stage with a 4-2 victory over Haiti.

Although the Atlas Lions missed out on top spot in Group C, they secured qualification for the Round of 32, finishing second behind Brazil.

Morocco’s next match is scheduled for Monday, where they are expected to face the Netherlands in the knockout stage.

“For Morocco, the story continues. The Atlas Lions are through, Africa has another team in the knockout rounds, and a major test now awaits,” CAF concluded.
