It has been a mixed morning session for both India and West Indies so far.

The India openers, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, started cautiously, keeping things safe while steadily adding runs.

As they got their eye in against the West Indies pacers, the duo began finding the boundary, with KL Rahul even clearing the ropes for a six.

The momentum shifted with a spin change, as Jomel Warrican struck, dismissing Rahul on just his third delivery.

Sai Sudharsan, walking in at number three, has looked promising, knowing this innings could be crucial for his place in the Test side.

Yashasvi Jaiswal remains steady at the crease, but he hasn’t yet fully switched into his usual attacking mode.

After some initial attacking cricket, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan seemed to have slowed down a little, which just could be them waiting for the right moment.

Neither batters are trying too many things against spin at the moment, and are letting things take shape before going too hard.

KL RAHUL COMPLETELY BAMBOOZLED!!

West Indies skipper Roston Chase makes a smart move, bringing on Jomel Warrican for the first spin change, and Warrican strikes on his very third ball, claiming the big wicket of KL Rahul.

Yashasvi Jaiswal looks equally disappointed at the other end, while Rahul remains at the crease, trying to process what just happened.

Sai Sudharsan walks in at 3.

Anderson Phillip switches ends and nearly gets the wicket of KL Rahul. He gets one to nip back from outside the off-stump and hits KL Rahul flush on the pads. Phillip appealed loudly, but the umpire was unmoved.

West Indies captain Roston Chase opted for the review.

However, the replays suggested that the impact was outside the off-stump on umpire's call and the wickets were also umpire's call.

Rahul survives, but he was beaten there. The ball angled in and hit his pads.

West Indies must be encouraged by that movement.

Keep in mind, there were bare patches on the pitch in one end and a covering of grass from the other end.

KL Rahul is flaunting his class here. He punched one through the covers off the back foot when Seales pitched it a bit short and wide. It was reminiscent of those VVS Laxman's punches off the back foot.

In the ver next delivery, Seales tries to compensate and bowls a fuller delivery that Rahul flicks through the legs for a boundary.

Rahul is getting a move on after having been watchful for most part of the first hour.

While they haven't looked threatening, West Indies new ball bowlers Anderson Phillip and Jayden Seales have kept it tight. They have bowled in the right channel, challenging the Indian openers' ability to judge their off-stump.

To the Indian openers' credit, both Rahul and Yashasvi have left well.

The ball is moving a bit because of the chilly weather in the capital city. It's good see a tight contest between the bat and ball.

Can the West Indies strike in the first hour? They need to keep bowling tight lines without looking to go searching. Patience is the key and that's what the tourists have missed in this series so far.

KL Rahul hits the first boundary for India on Day 1 morning. Anderson Phillip, who was steaming in, missed the lines and fires one down the leg. Rahul gets a feather and the ball races to the fence. There was no chance for the deep fielder behind square to cut that down.

Nonetheless, a good over from Phillip. He is trying to bowl a stump-to-stump line. And he is trying to shape it away from the right-hander. A good contest between bat and ball early on.

KL Rahul is off the mark, but in a streaky fashion. Anderson Phillip fires in a fuller-delivery, nearly at yorker length. Rahul brings his bat down in time, and it takes the outside edge and flies through the vacant area in the slip cordon.

A decent start from the two West Indies pacers. They are running hard and hitting the right lengths. They would be hoping for some assistance from these conditions.

The mornings have become chilly in New Delhi in the last few days. Can it aid some swing today?

A good start from Jayden Seales. He was getting a hint of movement in his first over. There should be some help for the pacers as it has been a pleasant October morning in New Delhi.

Seales was looking to keep it full and tight against Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Anderson Phillip has the new ball from the other end. The 29-year-old fast bowler, who replaced Johan Laynne, is running in to bowl to KL Rahul.
