Brazilian tennis pro Joao Fonseca's girlfriend Manu Noronha was otherwise occupied during his shock defeat of legend Novak Djokovic at the French Open 2026.

She shared a series of new photos and a video to her Instagram page on May 29. They showed her standing in profile, and modeling a hair clip. The model's Instagram page is filled with glamour shots, including some showing her wearing a bikini at a beach.

The post came as Fonseca was shocking the tennis world with his major upset of Djokovic, which came as the Serb was gunning for another French Open title with Jannik Sinner out in the second round and Carlos Alcaraz out with a wrist injury. Novak won the first two sets but then Fonseca came back and took the final three.

Sports Illustrated confirmed that Noronha is Fonseca's girlfriend. "Fonseca is currently spoken for, as he is currently dating Manu Noronha, who is a Brazilian model and student," SI reported.

Noronha only has 8,244 followers on her Instagram page, which doesn't include any photos of Fonseca. For his part, Fonseca fills his Instagram page with posts about his tennis career, keeping his personal life private. Meanwhile, Djokovic, of course, is part of one of the most enduring marriages in tennis history, as he is married to wife Jelena, his high school sweetheart. She fills her page with posts about her love for Djokovic but hasn't commented on his big loss.

According to SI, Fonseca and his girlfriend have appeared together in public before. "They were together at the Laver Cup Gala Ball last September," SI reported. "João Fonseca showed up at the Laver Cup Gala Ball with his girlfriend, Manu Noronha in one of their first public appearances together," Tennis Forever wrote on Instagram in September.

Joao Fonseca Met His Girlfriend in School

According to Yahoo, Fonseca met his model girlfriend in school. They "met while studying together at the Escola Americana (American School), a prestigious school in Rio de Janeiro, and they kept their relationship private for a long time," Yahoo reported.

She "spent some time abroad, and then enrolled at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro to study marketing," Yahoo reported, adding that Fonseca's girlfriend is signed with a major Brazilian modeling agency.

According to Yahoo, Fonseca sometimes leaves comments on his girlfriend's Instagram page, which alerted fans to the budding relationship. He told reporters in 2025 that he had a girlfriend, indicating that he was looking forward to spending time with his “family and girlfriend," Yahoo reported.
