The headline change is at the top of the order. Jos Buttler keeps his place, but he is joined by Aneurin Donald, who wins his first England cap after a Vitality Blast campaign that brought 489 runs and a tournament-high 37 sixes. Charith Asalanka captains Sri Lanka, who are coming after having lost 14 of their 18 previous T20Is against England, including a 3-0 defeat on their own turf earlier this year.

England have been a serious force in this format. They took apart world champions India 4-0 back in July with Jos Buttler's hundred at this very ground helping England score 257 which India could not chase, and they have won four of their last five bilateral series.

Sri Lanka, by contrast, come into this series having lost twice to an England Lions side, and their batting has looked shaky against the new ball throughout the tour.

With Buttler in form, Brook captaining a settled top order, and Donald's fresh firepower alongside him, England should have too much power and depth for Charith Asalanka's side to handle.
