It’s a strong start for Maheshwari Chauhan and Anant Jeet Singh, with both of them hitting 19/19 shots each in Round 1 out of 25.

The first match in pre-quarters begins with Sreeja and Archana taking on the Romanian pair of Elizabeta and Adina. The Indians lead 8-2 in Game 1. It’s a best-of-five match.

The winner will face the USA or Germany in the quarter-finals.

Manika Batra and Sreeja are the single players for this match.

Sreeja and Archana take the first game 11-9 in Match 1 vs Romania’s Elizabeta and Adina.

Terrific comeback by India’s Sreeja and Archana in Game 2 of Match 1. They saved a match point and then won the game 12-10 to lead 2-0. The comeback was inspired by a quick smash down the line followed by an unforced error.

Round 1 of the skeet mixed team qualification is over and India scored 49/50 with Maheshwari Chauhan missing one shot. They are currently in the fourth spot which is the last medal match slot. There is still a long way to go in the qualification. Both shooters have to take 50 shots each.

Excellent. Sreeja and Archana Kamath give India a 1-0 lead by winning the Match 1. They won 11-9, 12-10, and 11-7 against Romania’s Elizabeta Samara and Adina. Game 3 was tied 4-4 but the Indians went on a streak to take a 10-6 lead. Romania saved one match point but went long on the next rally as India clinched the clash.

Manika Batra time in Paris! She takes on Bernadette Szocs in the Match 2.

Mnaikba Batra wins the first game 11-5 against Bernadette who is a higher-ranked player. India already lead 1-0 in the clash. Manika was relentless making full use of her reach and putting Bernadette’s defence under pressure as the Romanian went long, wide, and netted on multiple times. Manika was initially down 1-4.

Some brilliant stuff from Manika with varied service styles and different slices as she goes from 3-3- to 5-3 and then 6-4. She took a 7-5 lead with an unreturnable smash to Bernadette’s backhand. 9-6 with a smash to wide of forehand. A forehand top spin smash gives her three match points and she clinches the second game 11-7 with an unforced error.

Manika started strongly with forehand smashes but Bernadette stayed in the game with some good defence. At 5-4, Manika pulled away with five straight points to make it 10-4. Bernadette put Manika under pressure by winning three points on the trot resulting in a timeout by India. Manika came back and won the game 11-7 with an intense rally.

Maheshwari and Anant are currently 10th with a score of 55 but fret not, their Round 2 has just begun. The cut-off at this moment after round 2 is 97. Only the top four will reach the medal rounds. The Indian pair scored 49/50 in Round 1.

Sreeja wins first game 11-8 against Elizabeta Samara in Match 3. She finishes the first game with Samara netting the last rally. India are already 2-0 up in the Round of 16 clash.

Samara was relentless with her forehand cross-table smashes that evaded Sreeja or the Indian was forced to return long.

Samara wins the game 11-4 – first for Romania in the clash. It’s a must-win match for them.

Comeback for Samara in the second game of Match 3 vs Sreeja. Match is tied 1-1.

Sreeja leads 8-7 against Samara in Game 3. Sreeja has impressed with her top spin smashes in this game.

Alight then, Sreeja wins the third game 11-7 and India are just one game win away from reaching the quarter-finals. Sreeja currently leads 2-1 against Samara.

Samara makes it 2-2 by winning Game 3 11-6. At 9-6, the Romanian engaged Sreeja in a long rally that finished with the Indian going long. On match point, Samara smashed a forehand shot to tie Match 3.

The experienced Samara has found her groove forcing unforced errors out of Sreeja and raining down smashes. She leads 4-1 in the match with a break taken.

First match win for Romania in the Round of 16 clash and they now trail 1-2 vs India.

Sreeja did well to claw back to 7-9 after being 1-4 down but the veteran Romanian clinched the game with a forehand smash and a cross-table return to wide of Sreeja’s forehand.

India’s Maheshwari and Anant are placed 7th after Round 2 with a total score of 97. Maheshwari scored 25/5 in Round 2 while Anant scored 23/25. One more round to go. USA’s Jewell Austen and Vincent are fourth – the last medal-round spot – with a score of 98.

A strong start for Romania in the Match 4 vs India in the pre-quarters. Archana Kamath loses 5-11 to world number 10 Bernadette Szocs.

This is great table tennis from Archana Kamath as she takes a 9-6 lead against Bernadette in Game 2 of her singles match. India need to win one more match to reach the quarter-finals.

Bernadette started strong and quickly surged ahead in a lead but down 2-5, Archana came with a brilliant down-the-line smash, leaving Bernadette two-footed. Another unforced error by Bernadette put Archana 6-7 behind but the world number 10 Romanian stayed strong in the game by inducing unforced errors out of the Indian and sprinkling the game with some smashes from time to time to win 11-7.

The Romanian has raced to a 3-0 lead as pressure starts to have a visible impact on Archana, forcing India to take a time-out to break Bernadette’s rhythm.

And the trick works for India as Archana wins three straight points to make it 3-3 with the Romanian making multiple unforced errors. Bernadette bounces back with an inside-out smash to lead 4-3.

We will need a Match 5 in pre-quarters to decide the winner. India led 2-0 at one point but it’s 2-2 now. Good comeback by Romania.

Achana does well to make it 8-8 but a deceptive backhand allows Bernadette to take the lead from where he moves to 10-8 and two match points. Archana saves one with the Romanian hitting the net but Bernadette finishes the task with a smash. She wins the Games 4 11–9 and the match 3-1.

Game 1: Manika wins the first game 11-5 in style, giving India a significant advantage. Remember this is the decider.

Game 2: Manika wins 11-9. This was a close game and both players kept following each other. At 9-9, Manika took the lead after smashing away a loose ball that struck the net and then clinched the game after an unforced error by Adina.

The Round 3 for India’s Maheswari and Anant is underway. They had a score of 97/100 after Round 2. The cut-off at the moment for the fourth spot – the last medal round slot – is 144.
