Welcome to the FPL Gameweek 26 Captaincy metrics blog. It’s the first double gameweek of the season, with Arsenal & Wolves playing twice, and many managers are considering using the triple captain chip. Without further ado, let’s get into it and see who tops the captaincy metrics this week.

Total metrics points: 14 + 4 + 18 + 26 + 10 + 32 + 16 + 26 + 4 + 26 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 28 + 4 + 26 + 32 + 4 + 4 + 8 + 12 + 4 + 2 + 10 + 12 = 334 points

Note: “Returns” ~ player topping the metrics getting points returns and not necessarily the highest scoring option of the week.

FPL GW26 Captaincy Metrics

Gabriel tops the captaincy poll this week with 52% of the votes and will be up against Brentford (A) and Wolves (A). Rice is 2nd with 17% of the votes. Gyokeres is 3rd in the captaincy poll this week with 8% of the votes. The Swedish forward has been in good form recently, having scored 3 goals in the last two PL games, but it remains to be seen if he’ll start both games. Haaland, who hauled late in GW25 vs Liverpool, is 4th in the captaincy poll. Timber is last in the captaincy poll this week.

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 26 Captain Picks

Haaland tops the table with 16 shots in the box, 5 Big chances, and an xG of 3.60 in the last six games.

Gyokeres is 2nd with an xG of 1.64 in the last six games. He’s also had 3 big chances and 5 shots inside the box.

Rice is 3rd with an xG of 0.83 in the last six games. He’s had 1 big chance and created 16 chances during the period.

Gabriel stands 4th with an xG of 0.46, managing 5 shots inside the box and 2 big chances in total.

Finally, Timber stands last with an xG of 0.25 and 2 shots inside the box and 1 big chance.

Man City take the top spot and have registered 9.71 xG, 13 Big Chances, and 64 Shots inside the box in the last six games.

Arsenal are up next with 58 shots inside the box and 15 big chances during the period, and an xG of 8.68.

In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates.

We will use DraftHound’s odds for a Team scoring at least one goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of scoring more than 2.0 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.

Arsenal have 97% odds to get at least one goal and 55% odds to get 2 or more Goals this Gameweek vs Brentford (A), Wolves (A).

Manchester City are 2nd with 94% odds of at least 1 goal in this Gameweek vs Fulham (H) and 59% odds of scoring 2 or more goals.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 26 Captain Picks

In the fourth phase of the article, I used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week.

Gabriel is first with an anytime returns projection of 80% and a 11.2 points projection in FPL Gameweek 26 vs Brentford (A), Wolves (A).

Timber is second and has an anytime returns projection of 80% and a 9.9 points projection, while Rice is third with anytime returns projection of 57% and a points projection of 11.2.

Haaland is 4th and has an anytime returns projection of 71% and a 7.9 points projection. Gyokeres is last has an anytime returns projection of 70% and a points projection of 6.4 vs Brentford (A), Wolves (A).

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 26 Captaincy metrics

Gabriel is top of the captaincy metrics with a cumulative rank factor of 8, Rice is a close second with a CRF of 9. Timber & Gyokeres are third with a CRF value of 10. Haaland comes last with a CRF of 11.
