Serena Williams steals the spotlight with an unexpected post from New York

Serena Williams is making the most of her days in New York in a way that goes far beyond the tennis courts. The former American tennis star shared a series of photos on social media accompanied by the message “New York State of Mind,” offering a glimpse into a much more personal moment during her stay in the city.

The post features several images of Williams enjoying the city and spending time with her family. One of the highlights is a photo with her sister, Venus Williams, while Serena carries her daughter Adira, creating a much more relaxed scene than the ones that typically surround her sports-related appearances.

The setting also drew attention for the simplicity of their outfits. Serena wears black Nike shorts, white sneakers, a graphic T-shirt and a white cap, while Venus sports jeans and a green blazer paired with black-and-white patterned pieces.

New York has been a special setting for Serena Williams

The moment comes after an especially significant stretch for Williams in the city. Serena was invited to compete in the mixed doubles tournament alongside Carlos Alcaraz, with the pair making their debut with a victory on August 25. However, their run came to an end in the quarterfinals, where they lost to Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli.

But Serena's US Open journey is not over yet. The American and her sister Venus have also been invited to compete together in the women's doubles draw, giving them another opportunity to share the court in a new chapter of their careers. Their debut is scheduled for September 3 or 4.

And while she still has another appointment with tennis ahead, Williams chose to show another side of her return first: that of a woman making time to enjoy everyday moments before stepping back onto one of the stages that has defined her career.
