Naveen-ul-Haq returns for India T20Is

Naveen-ul-Haq is all set to return to international cricket after being selected for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India in Delhi. This series will also be Ibrahim Zadran's first as Afghanistan's T20I captain.

Naveen has endured a frustrating long spell on the sidelines as a result of a shoulder injury that initially ruled him out of the Asia Cup last year and the T20 World Cup earlier this year. He subsequently underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his right shoulder.

The 26-year-old, who has already retired from ODI cricket after the 2023 World Cup, last featured for Afghanistan in December 2024. The ACB also confirmed the return of experienced allrounder Gulbadin Naib to the squad to bolster the middle order and the bowling department.

Following his impressive performances in domestic cricket and the Shpageeza Cricket League, uncapped wicketkeeper Noor Rahman has been picked as the backup gloveman.Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad and Nangyal Kharoti are the four spinners present in the 15-man setup.The three T20Is are scheduled to be played on September 13, 15 and 17.
