Football Review Committee's interprovincial games to get live TV broadcast

RTÉ and TG4 will live broadcast all four of the Football Review Committee (FRC) organised interprovincial games in Croke Park next month.

The final and shield final on Saturday October 19 will be shown on RTÉ2 and RTÉ News respectively. TG4 will carry the semi-final games at GAA HQ on Friday evening, the day before.

The throw-in times and the semi-final draws have yet to be confirmed but they are expected to be 70-minute matches run on a clock-hooter basis and officiated by leading referees.

As the Jim Gavin-chaired FRC finalise their rule changes before Special Congress on November 30, the first public showcase of the changes such as the two-point score behind or on the 40-metre arc and four-point goal will be showcased in Croke Park.

Members of the public will be able to attend the matches, which will involve inter-county players whose clubs have exited their county championships will be open to the public.

Meanwhile, the provincial football championship draws for 2025 have been confirmed for Saturday, October 12. The draws are set to be made on RTÉ Radio 1.

For the second year running, Clare and Kerry will receive byes to the Munster semi-finals but could face one another in the last four.

In Ulster, this year’s preliminary round teams Cavan and Monaghan as well as the 2023 pairing of Antrim and Armagh will earn quarter-final byes meaning two of Derry, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone will face off at the first hurdle. While it is Galway’s turn to travel to New York as it is Roscommon to London for their Connacht SFC preliminary round and quarter-final games respectively.

Leinster are set to continue continue with their practice of rewarding counties who reached the province’s semi-finals in the previous season with quarter-final byes. In that case, it would be Dublin, Kildare, Louth and Offaly through to the last eight.
