Stirring Faithful comeback falls short

Waterford had a lead as big as 15 points at one stage in the second half but they were made to sweat it out before holding on to get their hands on Division 1B silverware in Páirc Uí Chaoimh this afternoon.

Two goals from Oisín Kelly and an in-form Brian Duignan helped to drag Offaly back into the game and they dominated the closing minutes, outscoring the Déise 2-11 to 0-3, but Peter Queally's side held on.

Dessie Hutchinson, Stephen Bennett and Mark Fitzgerald shone for Waterford but Queally will be alarmed by their fourth quarter no-show ahead of their Munster SHC round-robin opener at home to All-Ireland champions Clare in three weeks.
