The Champions League is back for the 2024/25 season, with Arsenal among the sides looking to lift the trophy at the end of the campaign.

Mikel Arteta guided his side to the quarter-finals last time out, falling to defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich over two legs.

While the Gunners will fancy their chances this time around, there are some fresh challenges, with the brand new Champions League format creating new circumstances for teams to deal with.

Arsenal will compete in the league phase instead of a traditional group stage, playing eight teams in the hopes of qualifying for the knockouts.

So with that said, here’s a look at the key dates for Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League campaign.

When is the Champions League knockouts draw?

The knockout rounds of this year’s Champions League will be split into two separate draws for one key reason.

There will be an initial draw for the play-offs, which will be a two-legged tie between teams that finished ninth to 24th in the league table – those who finish in the top eight go straight through while those 25th and below are knocked out.

That draw will take place on January 31, 2025.

Once the winner of those play-off ties are decided, a draw for the route to the final will be made, covering the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals.

That draw will take place on February 21, 2025.

The knockout rounds will get underway in February, with the finalists declared in early May ahead of the big clash.
