Anchor breaks TV on live broadcast, pushes table in unbridled rage at Rishabh Pant after SRH vs LSG IPL match

When you are Rishabh Pant, the expectations are always sky-high. The Lucknow Super Giants spent ₹27 crore - the most by any team in IPL history - in the mega auction for nothing. Pant is one of those rare cricketers who brings the thrills of T20 batting to Test cricket with reasonable consistency. When the same batter, for some strange reason, struggles to maintain a specific strike rate in T20s, fans are left with very few options but to scratch their heads. Pant's career T20 strike rate is 127 and his start to IPL 2025 has been even worse. But surely that can't be the reason for TV anchors to show rage on-air, right? Wrong! Anchor breaks TV screen

A sports presenter of a popular Indian Sports YouTube channel damaged studio equipment, including throwing things at a TV screen and pushing the glass table in front of him during a live broadcast because he was unhappy with Pant's performance in IPL 2025.

After registering a six-ball duck in LSG's IPL 2025 opener against his former team, Delhi Capitals, Pant scored a run-a-ball 15 in the second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His innings made little difference in the match's outcome, as LSG were way ahead of the asking rate thanks to the blistering knocks by Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh. However, Pant's struggles on placid batting decks are a dagger to the heart of his fans.

Among all the batters who crossed double figures during the SRH vs LSG match in Hyderabad, Pant's striker rate was the lowest. In the 21 balls that he has faced in the 18th season of IPL so far, he has hit only six and has zero boundaries to this credit. On top of that, his wicketkeeping and captaincy were blamed for LSG's shock defeat to DC despite bossing most of the match.

LSG did make a strong comeback against SRH, beating them comfortably by five wickets and 23 balls to spare but Pant is far from his best. Discussing the LSG captain's performance, a SportsTak presenter lost his cool. In an unbridled show of rage, he broke the TV screen and nearly toppled a glass table.

"IPL is going on. He (Rishabh Pant) had his chance but I'm telling you, he has become predictable. You cannot trust him. What sort of a captain is he? We don't need a captain like him," before throwing throwing objects at the TV screen.

Pooran, Shardul star in LSG's massive win

Pooran slammed 70 off 26 balls as LSG chased 191 in 16.1 overs on Thursday. Pooran's power-packed innings featured six fours and six sixes, as the West Indies batsman ruthlessly took the attack to the opposition on a flat Hyderabad pitch.

Lucknow, captained by the most expensive player in the IPL, India's Rishabh Pant, lost Aiden Markram early before Mitchell Marsh (52) and Pooran put on 116 for the second wicket in barely seven overs together.

Pooran eventually fell lbw to Australia captain Pat Cummins, leaving his team on 120-2 in the ninth over.

Pant walked in with Lucknow well positioned but made a scratchy run-a-ball 15 before miscuing a full toss from Harshal Patel, following Marsh back after he was removed earlier by his international team-mate Cummins.

Lucknow also lost Ayush Badoni cheaply but Abdul Samad hit an unbeaten 22 off eight deliveries to help them cruise to victory with 23 balls remaining.

Lucknow had won the toss and restricted Hyderabad to 190-9 despite a brisk 47 at the top of the order from Travis Head.

Shardul Thakur, who wasn't initially picked up by any franchise and only received a call-up from Lucknow as an injury replacement, finished with his best IPL figures.

Thakur took 4-34 and landed a key double blow by dismissing opener Abhishek Sharma (6) and Ishan Kishan (0) with successive balls in the third over.
