Former Ghanaian table tennis player, Ethel Jacks has opened up about her difficult experiences in Ghana and how a move to Nigeria transformed her life and career.

Speaking candidly, Jacks revealed that she struggled to make a living during her time in Ghana, which ultimately forced her to seek better opportunities elsewhere.

“I was getting nothing in Ghana, so I moved to Nigeria to play table tennis. There I got a car and a house and could take care of my children,” she said.

Her remarks highlight the challenges many athletes face in Ghana, particularly in lesser-funded sports like table tennis, where financial support and professional structures are often limited.

After relocating to Nigeria, Jacks found improved conditions, both professionally and personally.

The move not only revived her playing career but also provided her with financial stability and a better quality of life.

Her story adds to the growing conversation about athlete welfare and the need for stronger investment in sports development in Ghana.
