Liverpool transfer news as Florian Wirtz is linked with an exit amid ongoing criticism of his performances, while a January move for Lamine Camara is being touted

The international break gives Andoni Iraola a chance to reflect on his start as Liverpool head coach — and assess where he might need to add to his options.

The Reds head into the first break of the season still with an unbeaten record, having claimed a 1-0 win at Iraola’s former club Bournemouth on Sunday. That leaves Liverpool just outside the top four at this very early stage, with a long way still to go.

And there are some obvious areas of concern that will need addressing soon, not least the form of Florian Wirtz, who finds himself the subject of transfer speculation amid the ongoing debate around his place in the side.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.

Florian Wirtz (Liverpool)

Florian Wirtz would be interested in joining Bayern Munich if the German giant can reach an agreement with Liverpool, Football Insider claims.

The report cites former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, who suggests that Wirtz is frustrated in English football and could be tempted by a return to the Bundesliga as criticism of his performances at Liverpool continues.

It’s also claimed that the Reds would be prepared to field offers for Wirtz in January, despite being reluctant to let him leave midway through the season.

Liverpool.com says: It's not a particularly reliable source, and it would be a major surprise to see Liverpool let one of its record signings go in January, so take this one with a large pinch of salt.

It does feel though that Wirtz is approaching something of a crossroads in his Liverpool career. His performances in his first year were disappointing, and there doesn't seem to be much sign of him improving so far this campaign. If he continues like this, then the prospect of the Reds cutting their losses with him becomes a lot more likely.

Lamine Camara (Monaco)

Chelsea will make another move for Lamine Camara, while a potential switch to Liverpool could hinge on Alexis Mac Allister’s future, according to transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Blues saw their attempts to sign the midfielder on deadline day collapse, with the Reds claimed to have made contact with the player and his club. Despite suggestions that Chelsea was left furious with Monaco’s decision to pull the plug, Di Marzio is confident that the club will return to try and sign Camara — but Liverpool might offer some competition.

“Chelsea needs a player in that position after Enzo left, so I think that in January, they will try again,” Di Marzio told Rekatochklart.com. “Obviously, it's difficult to say right now if something will be arranged or not.

"For Liverpool, it will depend on Mac Allister's contract situation. Because they're not talking about a new contract, so it's possible that Liverpool can anticipate and try to get a player in that position before the summer. Chelsea will come back for Camara, and Liverpool is also there looking at him."
