Men’s Tennis dominates Tennessee State, 6

FLORENCE, Ala. (February 21, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team tallied a second-straight home win Saturday with a 6-1 victory over Tennessee State from the UNA Tennis Courts in Florence.

North Alabama (5-5) continued its early dominance at home with a strong win over Tennessee State. The Tigers made it a battle early, taking the early advantage with the doubles point. UNA was able to answer back in singles by taking all six matches.

Tennessee State (0-6) took courts one and three in doubles, but freshman Benjamin Meyers and junior Izan Orgiles won UNA's lone doubles match in a 6-4 win over Chris Bogelin and Tatenda Mutetwa.

All six competing Lions earned a win in singles, starting with Orgiles from court three in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mete Koseoglu. Junior Alex Despoja rebounded from his court-one loss in doubles to defeat Alex Adamec in straights sets, 6-0, 6-1, from court four. The third UNA win saw Meyers grab his second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bogelin from court five.

Junior Alberto Altur clinched the dual from court two with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over James Germinal. Sophomore Satoru Nakajima beat Mutetwa from court six, 6-4, 6-1, and senior Lachlan Brain battled back from five-points down in the super tiebreak third set to win over Taj Hibbert, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8).
