Dhoni answered a fan's question at a public event

Dhoni's reply on his favourite batter was much more reserved

While MS Dhoni remains the most liked player of several fans around the country and the globe, the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian captain opened up on his favorites. Known to keep a low-profile visit, Dhoni answered the million-dollar question and revealed who his current favorite players are.

At an event, Dhoni took questions from the audience. One fan asked the five-time India Premier League-winning captain who his favourite bowler and batter among current batters is. As far as bowlers are concerned, Dhoni took no time in naming his pick. However, he was much more reserved as far as batters go. Jasprit Bumrah won Dhoni's vote.

"Bowler ka aasan hai. Bumrah is there. Batsman main thoda mushkil hojata.Itne aache batsman hai hamare pas. Iska matlabh ye nahi ki bowler kharab hai. Just bol raha hu pick karna mushkil hojata. Jisko batting karte dekho yehi hai, isko hi dekhna hai but then somebody else comes and vo bhi utna hi aacha lagta. Jab tak Team India aachi karte rahegi, I don't want to pick a batter. Hopefully they keep scoring runs. Bowler meine ek pick kar liya (Bowlers, it is easy. Jasprit Bumrah is there. It is tough with batsman. We have so many good batsmen. That does not mean bowlers are not good. Just saying, it is tough. Whoever I watch, it feels great, but then somebody else comes and he seems as good. Till Team India is doing well, I do not want to pick. Hopefully they keep scoring runs. However, I have picked one bowler," said Dhoni at an event.

It is worth remembering that Bumrah made both his ODI and T20I debut for India under Dhoni's captaincy on the tour of Australia in 2016.

Will MS Dhoni Play IPL 2025 ?

For another year, the suspense over MS Dhoni's future in the IPL remains as he or Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are yet to confirm whether he will play the 18th season of the league. Dhoni has been part of the Super Kings' since the inaugural season in 2008.

Despite playing his last match for India in 2019 and retiring from international cricket in 2019, Dhoni has continued to play the IPL. Since quitting national duty, Dhoni led CSK to the IPL title in 2021 and 2023. Ahead of IPL 2024 , Dhoni handed over the franchise to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The 43-year-old was in impressive form with the bat in the 2024 IPL, but his role came into question as he walked out bat at number eight on most occasions.
