Jamie Carragher names the one Liverpool star who was 'poor' in Man United draw as he showed too much 'arrogance' in possession - and it's not Trent Alexander-Arnold!

Liverpool's surprise 2-2 draw with Manchester United left many criticising Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Jamie Carragher has highlighted one other Reds star who might feel they could have done more.

The visitors came away from Anfield with a point that very few had predicted they could earn amid a torrid run of form with four defeats in all competitions in the build up.

Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring on 52 minutes, before a Cody Gakpo leveller seven minutes later and a Mohamed Salah penalty on 70 minutes looked to have handed Arne Slot's side a comeback win.

However just as he did against Manchester City, Amad Diallo came up with the goods for Ruben Amorim and Co, and United came away with a well-earned point that could well have been three but for a Harry Maguire miss late on.

Liverpool have been far and away the best team in the country - and arguably in Europe this season - but Reds legend Carragher believes that there was one player who seemed to come into the game with too much 'arrogance'.

'I thought Curtis Jones was poor and the one negative about Curtis Jones as a player when he's not playing well is he holds on to the ball too much,' said Carragher on The Gary Neville Podcast.

Liverpool fought back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 but were unable to hold on to all three points

'He's got that football arrogance which is something you want, but he's at his best when he plays two-touch, he moves it quickly and he presses.

'He's not a superstar in terms of beating players and clever passes, he just moves it on quickly and he presses, he's energetic.

'As soon as he holds onto the ball for half a second too much, it doesn't become football arrogance, it's just arrogance.

'He lost the ball early on and I thought it's going to be one of those days from Curtis, but in the main he's been fantastic.'

It has been something of a breakthrough campaign for Jones this term under Slot, who has given the 23-year-old both faith and game time in abundance this season.

Previously, like Ryan Gravenberch, he had struggled to break into the starting line-up, but has now become a regular for the new Reds boss.

However, starting the match with Dominik Szoboszlai out sick, Jones managed only 37 touches in an hour as a central attacking midfielder, highlighting an inability to get involved in the game creatively.

He also lost two of his four duels from the game, and managed to lose possession six times, while making no key passes or completing any dribbles.

Jones wasn't alone in copping criticism, though, with Alexander-Arnold blasted for perceived 'schoolboy' defending by former United skipper Roy Keane.

The defender endured a difficult opening 45 minutes as he was bypassed with ease on a number of occasions.

Diogo Dalot first went past Alexander-Arnold before delivering a cross towards Amad Diallo, who failed to take advantage.

The England international then kept Rasmus Hojlund onside following a ball over the top, with the United striker denied by Alisson.

'It's too easy, just a couple of balls over the top,' Keane said on Sky Sports. 'Trent's defending it's like schoolboy stuff, talking about going to Real Madrid, he'll go to Tranmere Rovers after this.'

League Two Tranmere then hilariously responded on X, posting: 'Trent to Tranmere, Roy? Nah, we're alright thanks.'
