Apple Sports Adds Football and Tennis Leagues, Match Info, Real-Time Draws, and More

Apple is once again widening what its free sports companion app can do, giving fans more to follow right from their iPhone. The latest update brings a mix of new football leagues and a fresh tennis feature that should make tracking major tournaments a lot easier.

Apple Sports Adds New Features, Sports

Apple Sports is Apple's free iPhone app built to give fans quick access to scores, stats, and standings across a wide range of sports and leagues. The app already supports major names like the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and dozens of soccer leagues around the world, along with tools like Live Activities that let users track an ongoing match directly from their Lock Screen without needing to open the app.

The app is designed around personalization, letting fans choose their favorite teams and leagues so the most relevant scores and updates sit front and center rather than getting buried among competitions they do not follow. Beyond scores alone, Apple Sports also shows detailed match information such as starting lineups, formations, and standings for most of its supported soccer leagues.

It also brings the ability to jump straight into the Apple TV app with a single tap whenever a supported match is airing on a connected streaming service.

Apple has continued expanding the app steadily since its original 2024 launch, adding new countries, leagues, and features throughout the year. This included a major push tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup that brought personalized tournament tracking and real-time bracket updates for fans following the tournament.

Egyptian Premier League

Israeli Premier League

South African Premiership

With these four additions, Apple Sports now covers leaguesspanning Oceania, the Middle East, and Africa, regions that had previously seen less representation within the app compared to its heavier focus on European and North American football.

The Australian A-League Men gives fans in that region a way to follow domestic club football alongside the international leagues already supported. On the other hand, the Egyptian Premier League and South African Premiership bring two of the continent's most followed domestic competitions into the app for the first time.

The Israeli Premier League rounds out the update, giving fans in that country a direct way to track their own top-flight matches through Apple's ecosystem.

Tennis' Grand Slam: Real-Time Draws

Beyond football, Apple Sports is also introducing real-time draws for tennis Grand Slam events, letting fans follow tournament brackets as they update live rather than checking back manually for the latest results.

This feature mirrors the kind of real-time bracket tracking Apple built for the World Cup earlier in the year, adapted specifically for how Grand Slam tournaments structure their single-elimination draws across multiple rounds.

With this addition, tennis fans can follow how a bracket fills in and shifts as matches conclude, making it easier to see which players are advancing without needing to cross-reference results from a separate source.

Combined with the newly added football leagues, this update continues Apple's broader effort to make its Sports app a single, unified destination for tracking a much wider range of competitions than what it originally launched with back in 2024.
