Leicester City players reportedly enjoyed a night out in Copenhagen just hours before Steve Cooper was sacked. The former Nottingham Forest manager endured only 12 matches at the helm before the defeat to Chelsea saw the club's bosses lose patience.

Players, including Danish duo Jannik Vestergaard and Victor Kristiansen, were spotted in Denmark, where they seemed to express their fondness for previous boss Enzo Maresca, who had guided them to promotion before departing for Chelsea. They displayed a telling sign stating "Enzo, I miss you", apparently underlining the squad's sentiments towards Cooper, who had managed a mere two wins before his dismissal.

Reports from Mirror Football suggest Cooper's exit was largely due to a souring atmosphere within the squad, with doubts over his ability to ensure Premier League survival, despite his previous success in keeping Nottingham Forest up. These concerns escalated to the decision-makers, and as a result, they resolved to part ways with Cooper well before the season's midpoint.

Leicester's chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, who attended the Chelsea fixture, was reportedly aware of the discontent within the team and he is reported to have been the decisive factor in the dismissal.

The players' trip abroad for a pre-arranged Christmas party had been sanctioned by Cooper in advance of the Chelsea defeat. Footage of players including Harry Winks and Conor Coady were published by Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet, allegedly showing them partying in Museo nightclub.

According to the Telegraph, Cooper’s tenure features a number of clashes with players, including Vestergaard, Winks and Hamza Choudhury.

Potential candidates to fill the now-vacant position include former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, David Moyes, who previously managed Manchester United and West Ham, and a somewhat more unconventional choice in Carlos Corberan of West Brom. The Foxes are eager to appoint a new manager swiftly as they face impending matches against Brentford and West Ham, reports the Mirror.
