MI vs RR Match Prediction & Analysis

A promising RR meets MI, a side currently going through an existential crisis. A star-studded side since the inception of the Indian Premier League, the number of big players was never a headache for the Mumbai Indians.

Current India T20I skipper, former T20 World Cup-winning captain, the world’s best fast bowler, and Hardik Pandya all under one roof. This would have been a dream team for any other franchise in the world, but it has led to many clashes and differences in the MI camp.

The Rajasthan Royals have done well without Sanju this year. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the side after skipper Riyan Parag missed the last game against LSG due to a hamstring injury. Jaiswal and the 15-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, have been exceptional and have played key roles in many of RR’s wins this year.

Will RR repeat their complete dominance over MI from their previous head-to-head encounter? Or will Rohit Sharma deliver big on his home ground to end the season on a winning note?

TEAMS PREVIEW

Mumbai Indians Preview

Mumbai Indians are 9th in the points table with 4 wins from 13 matches, two of which came in the last 4 games. The team has been at its lowest this year, and we can safely say that the 2026 IPL was MI's worst season in a long time.

Amidst the rumours of sacking Hardik Pandya, the skipper made a return to the side in the last game at Eden Gardens. It wasn’t a great outing for any of the MI players, with Tilak Verma scoring just 20 off 32 balls.

The left-hand middle-order batsman had delivered an unbeaten 75-run knock in the previous match against the Punjab Kings as MI chased down 205 runs in Dharamsala. Except for a few standout performances, which include a hundred earlier in the season, Verma has been a huge disappointment.

Despite some big guns in the side that include Rohit Sharma, Sherfane Rutherford, and Will Jacks, there hasn’t been any consistent power-hitting from MI players in the season. Rohit Sharma is a promising selection in the top team batter market at odds of 2.90.

Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar will lead the pace attack for MI. Chahar is known for his swing-bowling ability and can be a lethal pacer in the powerplay. Corbin Bosch has emerged as a good wicket-taking option in recent matches and will be one to watch out for. He’s a good bet at 2.60 odds to be the top bowler for MI.

Interesting Stats

Jasprit Bumrah has been wicketless in two of the last 3 matches for MI.

Bosch has picked up 8 wickets in his last 3 innings for MI, which included a 3-fer and 4-fer.

Mumbai Indians Predicted Playing XI:

Ryan Rickelton (wk), Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Will Jacks, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Raghu Sharma

Rajasthan Royals Preview

RR have a great chance of reaching the playoffs. Even with Riyan Parag missing, they still beat LSG by 7 wickets, chasing down a 200+ run total. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the top batter with a 93-run knock off 38 balls, as skipper Jaiswal and he stitched together a 75-run opening partnership in 39 balls.

From there on, it was Dhruv Jurel and Suryavanshi who added another 105 runs for the 2nd wicket in just 45 balls. It was one of the best RR performances of the season. Parag would be happy with his team having found momentum towards the business end of IPL.

Suryavanshi is priced at 2.25 odds to be the top RR batter with 4rabet. Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag are the big guns in the middle order and can deliver impactful knocks at 3 and 4. In the finisher’s role, Donovan Ferreira has been a great find for the Rajasthan Royals.

The batting order is quite deep with Shubham Dubey and Dasun Shanaka in the lower order, and we can expect a good finish from RR. Jofra Archer is the top gun in this bowling attack. RR got Sandeep Sharma back in the side for the LSG game, and while the experienced campaigner failed to deliver, he’s still an asset.

Interesting Stats

Ferreira delivered two strong finishes in recent matches, scoring 47 (14) and 52 (26) against DC and PBKS

Dhruv Jurel has scored two consecutive fifties at number 3 in his last two innings

Rajasthan Royals Predicted Playing XI:

Yashasvi Jaiswal (c), Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Donovan Ferreira, Shubham Dubey, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Sushant Mishra, Sandeep Sharma, Brijesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

There will be scattered thunderstorms in Mumbai with a high of 33 degrees Celsius. It could affect the game at the beginning, but in the late afternoon, it will clear out, and we can have a play with reduced overs. However, the overcast conditions will offer some movement to the new-ball pacers.

MI vs RR Pitch Report

It is a batting paradise at the Wankhede. The average first-inning score in the last 5 IPL 2026 matches here is 222 runs. However, teams have chased down 200+ totals on three occasions at this venue this season. SRH chased down a 244-run target against MI at Wankhede last month. We reckon the team batting first should aim for something around 230 runs to be in a winning position. It will be quite challenging for the bowlers to find wickets at this venue.
