Almeria have announced that Cristiano Ronaldo has invested in the club and is now part of the ownership team.

The Al-Nassr star has acquired a 25% share of the second-tier side through CR7 Sports Investments.

Almeria are third in LaLiga2, one point off an automatic promotion spot with 15 games to go in the season.

In an official club statement, Ronaldo said: "It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond just on the pitch.

"Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth.

"I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the next phase of the club's growth."

Ronaldo scored 311 goals in 292 LaLiga games during his time with Real Madrid, while he is close to making history in Saudi Arabia.

The former Manchester United forward has scored 95 goals in 98 Saudi Pro League games for Al-Nassr; Abderrazak Hamed-Allah holds the record for fewest games needed to reach 100 goals in competition, doing so in 101 matches.

Since he made his Pro League debut, Ronaldo has scored 41 more goals than any other player in the competition (Hamed-Allah ranks second with 54).

Ronaldo’s 113 direct goal involvements also ranks clear at the top of the Pro League charts in that time, with Salem Al Dawsari second on 64.
