Pakistan secured a hard-fought victory against South Africa by 13 runs in the second women's T20I at Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. After setting a competitive target of 182, the hosts restricted the Proteas to 168 runs, marking a significant comeback in the series.

Winning the toss, South Africa opted to field first. Pakistan's batting lineup showcased solid performances, finishing at 181 for 4 in their 20 overs.

Wicketkeeper Muneeba Ali was the standout player, scoring 45 runs off just 24 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes. Captain Fatima Sana contributed 37 runs off 23 balls, while Aliya Riaz added a quickfire 17 off 7 deliveries.

South Africa's Tumi Sekhukhune took two wickets, and Suné Luus claimed another, dismissing Sidra Ameen for 28 runs. Annerie Dercksen also contributed by taking the wicket of Nida Dar, who scored 29 runs.

In response, South Africa struggled to build momentum despite a brisk start from their captain, Laura Wolvaardt, who made 36 runs off 25 balls. Key contributions from Anneke Bosch (24 runs) and Chloe Tryon (30 runs) kept the Proteas in the chase, but they ultimately fell short.

Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal was instrumental with the ball, taking two crucial wickets, while Nashra Sandhu also picked up two. The match was briefly halted when Captain Fatima Sana was hit in the face while fielding, leading to Tasmia Rubab stepping in as a temporary captain.

Despite South Africa's efforts, they finished their innings at 168 for 4, falling 14 runs short of the target. This win not only boosts Pakistan's morale but also sets the stage for an exciting third ODI on Friday.
