Matteo Berrettini made what he hopes will be a mini statement of intent with a dominant win over Alexandre Muller.

The Italian is searching for his best tennis after plenty of troubles with injury but was rock solid in a 6-4 6-2 success over the Frenchman.

Next up, he faces a stern challenge in a second meeting with tenth seed Alexander Bublik.

The Kazakhstani star won their previous encounter 7-6 6-4 in Antalya back in 2021 and will be the favourite here.

It will be serve-dominated, heavy hitting affair and Berrettini’s hopes will be boosted by the fact Bublik’s red-hot form in recent months has gone a touch patchy in recent weeks.

It’s still a tough ask for the world number 68 but he can cause problems if Bublik isn’t fully on it.
