ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Jagadeesan century powers India A victory over USA in warm-up match

N. Jagadeesan scored a blistering century to power India A to a comfortable 38-run victory over USA in their ICC T20 World Cup warm-up match at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Monday, February 2.

USA has another warm-up match scheduled against New Zealand on January 5 at the same venue, while India A will be in action against Namibia on January 6 in Bengaluru.

A well-deserved win for India A, which was made to work for its victory tonight. N. Jagadeesan is the star of the evening with his sparkling century from 49 balls, with able support from Ayush Badoni, Tilak Varma, and Priyansh Arya.

USA was always behind the asking rate, but plenty of its batters showed enough spark with the bat for it to be very confident heading into the tournament. Andries Gous, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, Shubham Ranjane, and Harmeet Singh all played useful cameos and will be glad to get some batting form under their belt.

Naman Dhir gets a bowl to end the game, and he has a wicket straight away. Mohsin looks to reverse-sweep, and picks out short third.

Ali Khan is in, and he slugs a six away to bring up the 200 for USA. Looks to go again, and picks out long-on to end the match.

Bishnoi to bowl out. Jasdeep Singh is the new man. gets away straight away with a single. Bowled! Googly zooms in on off-stump, pings back the off-stump.

Ashok Sharma, who has bowled well without reward today, comes back. Mohsin gets away yet another single, and Sharma responds with a wide. Wide half-volley and Mohsin puts it away for four more.

Full again, and Harmeet drills it past mid-off for four. Bowled, Sharma has his wicket, and it’s a typical fast bowler’s wicket. Full and straight, and cleans up the off-stump.

Ayush Badoni brings himself on to bowl. Starts with a short ball, and Ranjane pumps it back over the bowler’s head for four. Short again, Ranjane pulls and it’s straight to Tilak at cow corner. Right shot, wrong execution.

Mohammad Mohsin is in, and he starts with six. Short again and Mohsin dumps it over cow corner for six. Full from Badoni, Harmeet tonks it straight for six. And again, slog-swept for six more.

Khaleel returns. Strikes straight away! Krishnamurthi looks to hit over the off-side, and a thick edge flies to deep third into the hands of Riyan Parag.

Harmeet Singh to the crease. Goes full, and he digs it out straight for three, well run. Second bouncer of the over, called a no-ball. Harmeet digs out the free-hit for four.

Mayank Yadav returns, Krishnamurthi late cuts for four. Oooh, beautiful shot to follow it up. High elbow drive back past the bowler for four more. Pulled nicely for one more. Ranjane into the pull shot, doesn’t carry to deep fine for one. Inside edge for one to end the over.

Bishnoi again, Ranjane sweeps for four more. Tapped into the leg-side for two more. Krishnamurthi pulls out the sweep, and gets it away again for four.

Suthar returns immediately. The batters keep the scoreboard ticking with some singles. Krishnamurthi rocks onto the back foot, and smashes a fourth six. Ranjane drops into the leg-side, and the batters run a sharp two.

Riyan Parag into the attack. Drops short, Ranjane pulls it into the gap for four. These two are both capable batters. Drops short, and Krishnamurthi pulls another six! Third of the day.

Tilak Varma to turn his arm over, Gous looks to slog, and picks out Naman Dhir in the deep! Not a great ball to be honest, quite short, but sometimes that works. The form batter is on his way.

Shubham Ranjane is the new batter, off the mark straight away. Tilak drops short, and Krishnamurthi dumps it into the stands for a six. Well played. Goes fuller, and the batter goes straight for six more!

Manav Suthar again, Gous takes one more single. The new batter, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, gets off the mark with a quick single. Gous winds up and misses. Chipped to the deep fielder for one more.

Bishnoi again, starts short and Gous dumps it over cow corner for six, followed by a single. Milind cuts nicely, and picks up two. Gous gets back on strike and cuts, Khaleel makes a brilliant stop to save one. That extra run saved pays off, as Milind looks to belt the next ball straight and finds Riyan Parag at long-on.

Manav Suthar into the attack to bowl left-arm spin. Gous cuts to the sweeper for one. Milind punches to long-off for one. Another single to Gous.

Tight over from Suthar, three from it.

Ashok Sharma again. Gous punches a single to deep cover for one. Short ball, Milind pulls nicely for one. Ooh, short ball reaches Gous sharply, and he can only top-edge it. Luckily for the batter, it lands safely in a gap.

Another good over just the three from it.

Mayank Yadav to close out the PowerPlay. Carved over the off-side for four more to Milind. Looks to pull, but is beaten for pace. Square leg puts down the catch, and the batters run two. Slogged away for one more. Short and wide, Gous hammers it away for the first six of the night! Quick single to close out the PowerPlay.

Ashok Sharma again, goes short to start. Milind steps away and pushes through covers for four, well played. Followed with a quick single.

Khaleel with a change of ends, has he struck immediately! Beaten Gous on the inside edge, and the umpire raises the finger before reversing his decision! Ah, the catch wasn’t completed cleanly. Edge down to deep third for one more. Wicket for Khaleel! Not a great ball, short and wide, but Mukkamalla miscues it into the air. Tilak tracks it well over his shoulder, and runs around the complete the catch.

Milind Kumar is in at four. He was expensive with the ball, can he score some runs? Off the mark with an outside edge.

Spin immediately, Ravi Bishnoi gets in. First boundary for Monank, lovely shot cover driven away for four. Drops a little short, and Monank strikes it straight powerfully for four more. Bowled! Great comeback by Bishnoi, googly at pace beats the defences of the USA skipper. Monank is on his way.

Saiteja Mukkamalla is the new batter.

Mayank Yadav returns from injury from the other end. How quick will he be today? Monank gets an edge to third for one to get off the mark. Throws one down leg, Jagadeesan does well to stop four byes. Short and wide, Monank cuts hard but Naman Dhir makes a brilliant diving stop at point.

Short and wide again, Gous gets the edge, and the extra pace takes it past keeper and slip for four. And again, similar shot, similar result. The attacking intent has bailed Gous out twice in a row here.

Full from Khaleel to start, and Gous thrashes over covers for four! Comes back well with three dots, a hint of away swing early. Leading edge towards mid-off from Gous, and Badoni gets a hand on the ball. He can’t gather though, and it runs away for four. Thrown fuller, and Gous drives crisply to end the over with a third boundary.

Monank Patel and Andries Gous are out in the middle for USA, Khaleel Ahmed has the new ball for India A.

Absolute carnage from N. Jagadeesan there has powered India A to a massive total at the DY Patil Stadium. The veteran TN opener smashed 11 fours and five sixes as he scored a lovely century to power this innings.

His captain, Ayush Badoni, came in and put the finishing touches on the innings with a brisk, unbeaten 60 from 26 balls, while there were also useful cameos from Priyansh Arya and a returning Tilak Varma to keep the scoreboard moving.

USA faces a tall task to haul this down, but it should give the batters some time in the middle. Join us for the chase shortly.

Netravalkar to close out the innings, Riyan Parag is the new batter. Badoni flicks wristily for one. Parag slaps a single to deep cover to open his account. Reversed by Badoni, and it flies over short third for four! Netravalkar’s yorker is too straight, Badoni flicks for one. Parag slogs hiiiigh into the air, but the bowler spills it himself! Final ball, looks to go short and it is called wide. Let’s try again. Gives himself room, Netravalkar nails the yorker so it’s a dot to finish!

Ali Khan to close out his spell, Jagadeesan pushes to long-on for one. Down leg, called wide. And again, action replay. Yorker flicked away for one more. Powerful drills straight for one more. Textbook cover drive from Badoni, runs away for four, and that’s his fifty from 21-balls! Brilliant, innovative knock from the A team skipper. Hammered to long-on for one more. Gone! Jagadeesan’s knock comes to an end! Tried to get inventive, reverse-ramps a yorker, but it goes straight to third man, who completes the catch.

N. Jagadeesan c Mohammad Mohsin b Ali Khan 104 (55b)

Jasdeep Singh again, full ball and Badoni belts it straight for six more! 200 comes up for India A with that shot. Full toss driven over cover for two more. Short ball, Badoni pulls it straight and it goes for four despite the fielder’s best efforts. Responds with a perfect yorker. Short ball, Badoni cuts to deep point, but Ranjane fumbles it over the rope for six more. Scoop again, and it runs away for four!

Netravalkar returns, Jagadeesan looks to ramp but only manages an edge for one. Badoni executes the ramp, and it runs away for four! Netravalkar tries the slower bouncer, but it is called wide. Badoni looks to reverse and misses, bowler wants the lbw but nothing given. Two singles to end the over.

Van Schalkwyk again, Badoni moves across his stumps and manoeuvers the ball past short square leg for four. Goes again, this time all the way for six! Full outside off, and this time Badoni drives over mid-off for six! Looks for the reverse, and is furious that he misses out. Short ball, Badoni pulls on the bounce to cow corner.

Wide yorker pushed to deep third, and N. Jagadeesan has a 49-ball century! 11 fours and five sixes, it’s been a punishing knock from the TN wicketkeeper batter!

Mohammad Mohsin in to bowl his leggies, and Jagadeesan welcomes him by cutting for four. Drops short, and Jagadeesan pulls short of the fielder in the deep. Badoni gets creative, steps across his stumps and falls as he looks to guide the ball past short fine. Only yields one. Single pushed to long-on for one. Badoni picks out deep cover. Pulled into the cap and Jagadeesan comes back for two to reach 99.

Shubham Ranjane returns, goes short and Tilak gloves it behind! Relief for the USA, the returning Tilak is gone after a breezy cameo. Nice signs on his return to action though.

Skipper Ayush Badoni comes to the crease. Off the mark straight away with a single. Another single to Jagadeesan moves him into the nineties. Badoni punches another single to cover. Yorker jammed out for one more, this has been a fantastic over.

Nosthush Kenjige comes into the attack to bowl his left-arm spin. Jagadeesan picks up one. Picked up over long-on by Tilak, six more to the total. Tilak looks to pull and misses, but no lbw given. Cut to the sweeper for one. Short ball on the hip, and Jagadeesan whips it away for yet another six!

Shadley van Schalkwyk comes in. Tilak pulls for one. Six more to Jagadeesan, remarkably pulls a length ball outside off over long-on. The batters exchange two more singles. Four! Steps across his stumps and sweeps over fine leg. Single to end the over.

Ali Khan returns the attack, starts with a full slower ball, and Jagadeesan launches it over cow corner for a huge six! Continues on his merry way. Driven along the floor in the same direction, fielder runs around from midwicket to make a good stop. Tilak thumps the ball to long-on for one. Slower bouncer, Jagadeesan waits and uppercuts for four more.

Jagadeesan misses a drive over cover, bowler and keeper think they have their man but nothing given. Tight two to close out the over.

Shubham Ranjane to bowl seam up now. Tilak drives to long-on for one. Around the wicket to Jagadeesan, hoicked away for two. Full on the wide line, Jagadeesan squeezes over backward point for four. Smashed to deep point to end the over.

Harmeet again, full toss outside off and Tilak belts it past short cover for four! Stays in his crease and drills over long-off for six more! Cut behind point for two more. Goes for the switch hit, gets it on the full behind point for four more. Single to end the over, this is getting a little ugly now.

Milind is back after an expensive first over. Too short, and Jagadeesan pulls for four. Slog-sweeps, and all the way for six! Pushes to the left of deep point for another two. And now over cover! What hitting from Jagadeesan! Short and wide, Jagadeesan cuts for four to complete a sublime 26-ball fifty! Fantastic batting from the senior man in the side.

Harmeet Singh to bowl his left-arm spin first over after the PowerPlay. Tilak starts with a single to over. Jagadeesan cuts for another single. Full toss, and Tilak places it through midwicket for a boundary. Follows with a single to the same region. Jagadeesan finds long-off for one to end the over.

Jasdeep Singh to close out the PowerPlay. Quick single to Tilak. Jagadeesan tries to cut, but misses entirely. Goes again, this time it’s called a wide. Sharp single to mid-on, would have been close with a direct hit. Almost an action replay as Tilak goes for the single.

Too wide from Jasdeep, and Jagadeesan puts it away for four to end the first six overs.

Tilak Varma is the new batter in at three, where he is expected to bat in the World Cup. Netravalkar returns, and Jagadeesan drives him dead straight for a big six! Driven straight, and mid-off misfields at allow the batters one to bring up fifty. Tilak gets off the mark with a slice to deep cover for one. Jagadeesan eases a single to cover. Another single to Tilak, guides to short fine.

Jasdeep Singh enters the attack, Arya eases him to cover for a single. Jagadeesan looks to work the ball past short fine but picks out the fielder. Eases it to deep cover for one.

Four more, Arya swings hard and gets a thick edge past short third for four. Gone now! Arya clips aerially off the thigh pad, but picks out deep square leg to perfection!

Priyansh Arya c Sanjay Krishnamurthy b Jasdeep Singh 28 (13b)

Milind Kumar to bowl some off-spin, and Arya greets him with a slog-sweep for six! A pause in play follows as the ball has to be retrieved. Throws the line a little wider and Arya belts over covers for four. Advances down the wicket, Milind pulls his length back and the batters come through for one.

Full again, and this time Jagadeesan puts it away over the bowler’s head. Swept again, and past short fine for four!

Ali Khan from the other end. Jagadeesan pulls, and midwicket makes a good diving stop to keep it to one. Thrown full, and Arya drives over cover for six more! Nice shot. Arya underedges a drive, and runs through for a quick single. Goes short, and Jagadeesan pulls over mid-on for four.

Netravalkar floats the ball up looking for swing, and Arya lofts high over cover for four to start. Arya punches to the left of mid-on, and steals a single. Jagadeesan pushes his first ball to cover. Drives straight for a single to get off the mark. Arya steps across and looks to flick over fine leg, misses and it goes through to the keeper.

We’re all set to begin in five minutes, Priyansh Arya and N. Jagadeesan are likely to open up for India A, although Urvil Patel could also be a candidate for opening.

With India set to wield the willow first, Riyan Parag will get an early chance to provide a reminder of his abilities with bat in hand. All-rounder Riyan Parag, who last played for India over a year ago, believes he isn’t part of the national setup currently because of a shoulder injury and that he can play both white-ball formats for the Men in Blue.

A reminder that USA will kick off its tournament in earnest against the full-strength India side on the opening day of the tournament, February 7.

That match will begin at 7:00PM, and will happen at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
