West Indies cricketer Jomel Warrican has won the ICC Men's Player Of The Month for January 2025, as the left-arm off-spinner bamboozled Pakistan in the recently-concluded Test series by recording his career-best figures.

The Caribbean was rewarded for his excellent performancs, as he was named the 'Player of the Series' on the Pakistan tour, and had his name etched on the 'Multan Honours Board'.

Here's What He Said Upon Winning The Award

"It’s an honour to win this award. One of my goals for this year was my first five-for in Test cricket, but I did not think that it would be this grand! I see this as one small step in my cricketing career, and I look forward to many more. I promised my captain something special in this series, especially when my father, my biggest supporter, predicted a phenomenal performance for me."

"Multan has a special place in my heart: not only because of the historic win for the West Indies, beating Pakistan away from home, but also by earning this prestigious award."

West Indies managed to win their first Test in Pakistan after 35 years, as Jomel Warrican starred with 19 wickets in two Tests, enabling the Caribbeans to finish above Pakistan in the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table.

Jomel Warrican defeated the likes of Nauman Ali (Pakistan) and Varun Chakravarthy (India) for his first-ever ICC award. The left-arm spinner is now only the third-ever West Indian to win the award, following in the footsteps of Gudakesh Motie and Shamar Joseph, who won the awards in 2024.

His career-best figures came in a losing cause, as his 10/101 failed to help West Indies avoid a 127-run defeat, but followed that up with a sensational 9/70 in the 2nd Test at the same venue (Multan Cricket Ground in Multan), as West Indies secured a historic 120-run win to share the series 1-1.
