Live updates on transfer deadline day as Bristol City and Bristol Rovers look to complete their last-minute business

Hello! Today is the day when football clubs up and down the country - including Bristol City and Bristol Rovers - will be scrambling to make any necessary final adjustments to their squads ahead of the transfer window closing later this evening.

11:00pm is when the summer window will slam shut, ending a little over two-and-a-half months of activity in the market.

It isn't always the case, but on this deadline day, there is a chance that both City and Rovers could make changes. While Steve Evans' and Michael Skubala's teams have both already been incredibly busy over the course of the window so far, neither club has shut the door on last-minute incomings and outgoings ahead of the bulk of the campaign.

Ins and outs - as always - are possible on both sides of the city, which should make it an intriguing final day of the transfer window.

Here's the story in full as we have it then. Bristol Live understands that Emil Riis is close to a deadline day Bristol City exit, with the Danish forward understood to be closing in on a last-minute, permanent move to League One Leicester City, ahead of tonight's deadline.

As we understand it on Emil Riis' future

As per those two reports shared above, Bristol Live also understands that Emil Riis is closing in on a move away from Bristol City. The Danish forward looks likely to join Leicester City before this evening's deadline in what we expect to be a permanent transfer.

As always, these deals aren't certain until they're done. We'll have more to follow in a second.

I'm just checking in on thise one myself, but Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke is reporting that Emil Riis' move to Leicester City is getting closer.

Watford set to sign Leicester winger

That's according to my colleague Josh Holland, who covers Leicester City. He is reporting that Stephy Mavididi is close to a deadline day move to Vicarage Road. It is a move that certainly doesn't come as a shock, given the winger has been linked with a King Power exit all summer long.

I wonder if that could have an impact on the Foxes' interest in Emil Riis. Yes, I know, they play in very different positions, but there may be a bit more cash available after that move is confirmed.

Sounds like Alex Scott is going nowhere

This has been the case for much of the summer transfer window, but it doesn't seem as though Bristol City will gain any extra cash from Alex Scott today. Having been linked with moves to the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal this summer, the former Robin is expected to stay at Bournemouth, according to reports.

The Robins do have a sell-on attatched to the midfielder. Maybe, like Antoine Semenyo, he'll be on the move in January.

Wrexham latest club to be linked with Jamie Vardy

It feels like this has been a story that has been lingering for the entirety of the summer, but Ben Jacobs is reporting that Jamie Vardy won't be joining a new club until after tonight's transfer deadline.

Few bits of drama in the second tier

They say this is one of the strangest days in the football calendar, and it certainly feels that way even at half-past eight in the morning. TalkSPORT's Alex Crook is reporting that Stoke City's Sorba Thomas is attempting to force through a move to Hull City, while Southampton's Sam Edozie has taken to social media to confurm he's submitted a transfer request.

I might go and make a coffee if this is what is in the store today...

Details for this evening

Just so that we're all aware of how things will work this evening. Both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers' games kick-off at 7:45pm tonight. They will, therefore, finish somewhere in and around 10:00pm, if my memory is correct. Both clubs - like everyone else in the country - will then have up until 11:00pm to conclude any remaining transfer business... but of course, things don't stop bang on the hour-mark.

Teams will no doubt be able to submit dealsheets, and or announce signings after the deadline. Hopefully, that isn't the case today, but we are attempting to cover all bases.

I can't really remember a deadline day quite like this

If we're honest, we all want some last minute business today, don't we? There's something about a deadline day signing that raises interest levels, even if it is the sort of addition that you wouldn't care about on any other day of the summer transfer window.

But I can't remember a deadline day where - with my knowledge on Rovers' position, which isn't as in-depth as my understanding of City's - where both clubs feel pretty content with their playing group heading into the final hours.

Of course, late incomings and outgoings haven't been ruled out, but both Steve Evans and Michael Skubala have insisted they're not "desperate" for further signings. What a nice position to find yourself in.

An interesting one in the Championship

There had been some rumblings on social media yesterday that Wrexham held an interest in Scott Twine. I can't comment on those suggestions - they have seemingly held an interest in each and every player to step foot in England's second tier - but it does seem as though Callum O'Hare will be the attacking midfielder they sign today.

Bristol Live exclusively reported last week, as you can read HERE, that clubs in both the Championship and Europe were interested in signing Emil Riis. Well, yesterday, reports emerged to suggest that a League One club are also admirers of the Danish forward: Leicester City.

That would be an interesting move for the striker. He feels like the topic that is live heading into the final day of the window, at Ashton Gate.

It is that time again: transfer deadline day and to make things even more fun today, both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers are in action this evening.

The Robins are in Preston North End tonight, while the Gas welcome Colchester to the Mem. Before then, however, full focus is on the transfer window with both sides potentially set to complete some last-minute business over the coming hours.
