Hungarian police are searching for Akos Buzsáky, the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder who played in the English Premier League, after he was reported missing more than a week ago.

Official police records confirm that authorities have been trying to locate the 44-year-old since August 18, as the Sun reports.

Buzsáky represented Hungary internationally during his playing career and was a familiar face in English football across the Championship and top flight during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Who did Akos Buzsáky play for?

The midfielder made his mark in English football with stints at Plymouth Argyle and Queens Park Rangers, where he featured in the Premier League during the 2011/12 season and scored twice.

He later wound down his playing career at Portsmouth in League One, hanging up his boots in 2013.

After retiring from football, Buzsáky reportedly built a life around construction contracting, spending a significant portion of his time working in Greece.

Father Unaware of Police Search

His father, Ákos Buzsáky Sr., was caught off guard when news outlet Blikk contacted him about the ongoing search. He told the publication that he had no knowledge of his son being reported missing or that police were involved.

"I didn't know that the police were also looking for my son. He basically spends a lot of time in Greece, where he works as a construction contractor. He spent almost the entire last year there."

Reports also indicate that Buzsáky no longer lives with the mother of his two daughters.

His own mother has also been searching for him in recent days, and it is believed she may be the person who first reported him missing to the authorities.
