“What impressed me was the amount of research and testing that had gone into solving an issue so many cricketers have experienced. It’s a genuinely innovative New Zealand product with global potential, and I’m excited to be part of the journey.”

Fox comes from a strong cricketing pedigree. His grandfather Merv Wallace was one of the country’s finest batters in the 1940s and 1950s. He captained New Zealand in two tests against South Africa in 1953.

Cover’s product is now being used by international players including Joe Root, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh and Rachin Ravindra.

Ravindra used the Cover box during New Zealand’s recent test series victory over England. He has also invested in the brand.

“Having athletes of Ryan and Rachin’s calibre invest is incredibly exciting,” Williamson said.

“They’ve both competed at the highest level and understand what it takes to build confidence through preparation, performance and equipment you can trust.”

The business plans to deepen its presence across Australia and enter key target markets such as the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States in the coming months.
