4th Match Predictions, XI & Key Players

The T20 Cricket series between New Zealand and South Africa is gradually coming to a halt. The first three matches gave New Zealand a 2-1 series lead. South Africa won the opening match before New Zealand countered with two consecutive victories.

With South Africa against the ropes and New Zealand smelling blood in the water, it’s clear that this fourth match should be the most intense one of this series to date. This is the kind of matchup that fans of the sport highly anticipate.

Here are some predictions, predicted XI, and key players to watch for in the fourth of five matches in this T20 cricket series between New Zealand and South Africa.

New Zealand vs South Africa T20 Cricket Series: 4th Match Predictions

New Zealand is up 2-1 in the series of five matches; however, they have suffered a big loss to their XI. Devon Conway will not play any more matches in the series. While it’s less than ideal to lose the biggest run-earner in this series, New Zealand has the bowling firepower to withstand the loss.

About one month ago, Conway was signed by the Islamabad United squad in the PSL. He is leaving this international series to prepare for the PSL season.

Tapmad believes New Zealand has a clear upper hand in this fourth match, despite South Africa’s strengths.

“New Zealand are one win away from sealing the series and every piece of evidence from recent weeks points in their favour,” Tapmad wrote. “But South Africa showed in their 1st T20I win exactly what they are capable of when everything clicks together, and George Linde is the kind of player who can produce a match-winning performance from nowhere.”

“The head-to-head record, the current form, and the home conditions all favour New Zealand in this NZ vs SA 4th T20I. Do not miss a ball from Wellington on March 22.”

Cricket World is predicting a South Africa victory. They are predicting that Connor Esterhuizen will lead the team in runs while Keshav Maharaj will take the most wickets for South Africa.

Even Google thinks this matchup is near 50-50. They have New Zealand with a higher winning probability of 60 percent, giving South Africa a 40 percent chance of winning.

New Zealand vs South Africa 4th T20: Key Players to Watch

Winning in T20 cricket matches requires a team effort. However, most teams have individuals who can rise to the occasion and put their squad on their backs. Here are two players (one from each team) who could do just that in the fourth head-to-head match.

Key Player For New Zealand: Lockie Ferguson

The player of the match in the third outing between these two squads was Lockie Ferguson. He bowled an impressive 1/9 in four overs, completely shutting down South Africa in the process.

Ferguson did a very similar thing in the second match, this time collecting a 3/16 figure in 3.3 overs. Additionally, he delivered a maiden in his opening over of the match.

For New Zealand to lock down the top of the South Africa batting order, they will need Ferguson to be in top form once again. Even with Conway out of the XI, Ferguson is one of several bowlers the Black Caps have who can take wickets and render their opponents lifeless.

Key Player For South Africa: George Linde

South Africa is going to need George Linde to be in top form in order to tie up the series.

In the second match of the series, he was the only South African batter to knock more than 20 runs. Linde has been good with the longball, launching five boundaries and four sixes in the two matches he’s been called upon to bat.

Should New Zealand strike a couple of early wickets against them in the powerplay, their middle order must step up. With Linde likely batting seventh, he can do exactly that.
