Mo Salah on 'very important' and 'proud' night after 250th Liverpool goal

The No.11 opened the scoring in Saturday night's Premier League clash at Anfield, capitalising on an opposition error.

The finish set the Reds on their way to a 2-0 victory - with his effort followed by another from Ryan Gravenberch - and brought up that huge personal milestone for Salah.

"It's very important," the Egyptian said of the result, speaking to TNT Sports post-match.

"We had a few losses in the Premier League and Champions League but I'm glad we start to come back on track now.

"It's a good plus before very important games against [Real] Madrid and City. It's a very important win for us."

Salah added of bagging his 250th strike at Liverpool: "It's a great feeling to score goals and win trophies for such a big club. It's something I don't take for granted.

"I'm so proud and so happy about that achievement."

The defeat of Unai Emery's Villa came as a response to a run that had seen Arne Slot's men lose six of their seven previous fixtures.

Salah is confident the reigning champions will find their best stride as they continue to adapt as a new-look squad.

"I said from the beginning - I know football, I've played for many years - I said it's a very tricky season for us," he said.

"We had a few new players, very good signings but they need time to adapt to the old team. And we lost a few good players as well.

"We just need time to adapt and know each other's games, and I think we'll be fine."
