Waterford and manager Keith Long have parted company with immediate effect. After making a bright start to the season, the Blues have been in freefall, with Friday night's 4-0 SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division defeat by Sligo Rovers their sixth loss in a row.The former Bohemians boss succeeded Danny Searle as Waterford manager in March 2023 and guided the club to promotion to the top flight that same season via a play-off win over Cork City.Waterford, who finished seventh in the standings last term, are back in action against the Leesiders on Monday night. In a statement, club owner Jamie Pilley said: "I'd like to thank Keith for his efforts and commitment over the past two years at Waterford Football Club."He will be fondly remembered by all at the club for his role in returning the club to the Premier Division and this decision wasn’t one which was taken easily."However, the recent run of results meant it necessary for a change. We now plan to take our time to ensure we find the right man to move the club forward."
