Ruairi McConville: Norwich City defender embarrassed by defending in Bolton Wanderers defeat

Norwich City defender Ruairi McConville says he was left embarrassed by his side's 4-3 defeat at home by Bolton Wanderers.

The Northern Ireland international scored in the first half to put the Canaries ahead but was at fault for Wanderers' final goal as the visitors came from behind to pick up their second win in succession.

Norwich have conceded 13 goals in their last three matches and are yet to keep a clean sheet this season. They have conceded the joint-most goals (17) in the division, level with bottom-of-the-table Burnley.

"Very disappointed. It's not good enough," McConville told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We concede four goals at home off the back of conceding four goals last week so it clearly shows we haven't learned our lesson.

"If we want to achieve the things we want to achieve then it's so far from good enough, it's embarrassing really.

"We've got to take the international break to work on things. The fourth goal, I run out of the way of it. It's just terrible defending all over to be honest. We have to look in the mirror and look at ourselves."

Norwich have found goals easy to come by so far this season and play an attacking brand of football.

Despite scoring 16 goals in eight matches though they are 17th in the Championship, six points off the automatic promotion places as they head into the international break.

"We lose as a team so we have to work on the training ground to improve on things," McConville added.

"Maybe it's [the international break] has come at the right time. I'll be thinking about what's happened and try and fix what I've done wrong on the pitch.

"I, more than anyone, want to change things quick."
