Manu Kone to Chelsea off as Xabi Alonso left with obvious choice after Enzo Fernandez agreement

Rom star Manu Kone has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the summer transfer window

Chelsea have been handed a major blow to their hopes of signing Roma star Manu Kone this summer after a fresh update on the midfielder’s future. The Blues have been credited with an interest in signing the France international throughout the summer as they look to strengthen their midfield options following Enzo Fernandez’s expected departure.

Kone’s future has been the subject of speculation all summer, with suggestions that a move to the Premier League could be on the cards before the window closes, including a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.

However, Roma have seemingly been determined to keep the midfielder in the Italian capital, and now there has been a fresh update around Kone’s future.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Kone is expected to remain at Roma beyond Tuesday night’s deadline, meaning that a transfer to Chelsea is now off the table.

Kone has been mentioned as a potential target for the Blues this summer, although Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has been adamant that the France international remains with the club and does not depart.

As a result, Monaco star Lamine Camara has also been linked with a move to Chelsea as a potential addition to the midfield options in Xabi Alonso’s squad.

Chelsea are believed to be determined to sign a new midfielder this summer before the 11pm deadline, with Fernandez closing in on a £125million move to Manchester City.

As reported by football.london on deadline day, Chelsea had submitted a £38.5million bid in an attempt to sign Camara before the deadline.

The offer was swiftly rejected by Monaco, and there is seemingly growing expectation that the 22-year-old midfielder remains at the Stade Louis II.

Camara has trained with his Monaco teammates on Tuesday, despite reports suggesting that he was open to a move to Chelsea, and whether a transfer will happen before the deadline remains uncertain.

Chelsea have had a busy summer transfer window to prepare for Alonso’s first season as the club’s manager, with 13 additions made to the 44-year-old’s squad.

Honest Anahor, Valentin Barco, Morgan Rogers, Pep Chavarria, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Emi Martinez, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Dastan Satpayev, Harrison Bettoni and Alfie Osborne have all signed for Chelsea this summer.
