Former Australia pacer Mitchell Johnson has had many on-field battles with India star batter Virat Kohli in Test cricket. Both were renowned for their aggression and were involved in verbal slugfests.Johnson has sent his special request to the legend ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He wants Kohli to score at least a century in a five-match series. This could be Virat’s last red-ball assignment in the overseas country, and the first Test will start on November 22 in Perth. Indian fans will fill the stadiums across Australia.Virat Kohli has been going through poor form and has hit three hundreds in the last five years. The 36-year-old amassed just 93 runs in six innings against New Zealand.“The 36-year-old is most likely to play his final Test series in Australia. He has done well over here and averages 54.08 in Australia, which is higher than his career average of 47.83. Few batters around the world have had that kind of impact in Australia,” Johnson wrote in his column for The West Australian.“He will be under pressure as his form hasn’t been impressive,” he added.Mitchell Johnson expressed his desire to see Virat adding another Test ton to his record.“I wonder if he will be inspired by the situation or if it is too much for him to counter. I would like to see him score a hundred in Australia.“I want to see the best against the best, and the series played with aggression and fire. Virat will feel like home in Australia,” he further wrote.Johnson also spoke about how Virat has changed Indian cricket. “He trains hard and pushes players to get better. I heard about him when Sachin and Sehwag were about to retire. Kohli was demanding as a captain, but he is one player you want to have in your team.“I saw a difference in the Indian team that played in Australia in 2014-15, which was my last Aussie summer. They were competitive and wanted to beat us.Although Australia won 2-0, Indian players gave their best, and it was the last time Australia registered a Test series victory against the subcontinent nation.Johnson lauded Virat for setting up the future of Team India.
