India's long wait for the 50-over ICC trophy ended after the team defeated New Zealand to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India played like Champions and didn't drop a game, winning the tournament undefeated. It was a collective effort which led the team to glory. The likes of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul held fort for the team in the league stages and the captain Rohit Sharma brought out his best on the big day. He played a magnificent innings of 76 in the final to help India chase 252 on a tricky surface. The spinners were brilliant throughout.

Rohit Sharma Ends Retirement Rumours Meanwhile, there were speculations that Rohit Sharma might retire after the Champions Trophy but the Indian captain confirmed that he is far from over. "I am not going to retire," the skipper said after India beat New Zealand in the final.

"One more thing. I'm not going to retire from this format, just to make sure that no rumours are spread moving forward," Rohit, who led India to four ICC trophy finals, including two titles, declared.
