The Ecuador Football Federation filed a formal complaint to FIFA over the Mexico fans who made constant noise partying outside of the men's national team hotel the night before its match against Mexico in the round of 32.

Dozens of fans gathered outside the Westin Hotel Santa Fe in Mexico City in their cars, and had a night of "serenading," with viral clips showing it included playing music on loudspeakers, honking horns, revving motorcycles, lighting fireworks and doing anything to cause noise with the goal of keeping the Ecuador players awake, trying to ensure they don't rest well before the match.

Evidentally, the rally was rowdy enough Ecuador officials said it filed a complaint to tournament organizers.

"Such conduct stands in stark contrast to the principles of fair play, equity, and unity that a World Cup ought to represent," the federation said in a statement. "The (Ecuador Football Federation) respectfully calls upon the relevant authorities to pay bigger attention to these events and take the necessary measures to safeguard the well-being of our players, coaching staff and fans."

USA TODAY Sports has reached out to FIFA for comment.

The viral moment occurred not long after Educador had quite the journey to arrive in Mexico. Ecuador head coach Sebastian Beccacece told reporters Monday, June 29 their flight into the country from Columbus, Ohio took longer than expected, resulting in a nine-hour trip.

Mexico and Ecuador will meet in the round of 32 at 9 p.m. ET in Estadio Azteca. Ecuador officials said it does not believe the overnight celebrations prior will tranish the game "that unites two brother nations."
