Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Match Highlights: In an outstanding cricketing performance, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 6 wickets in match 5 of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with a 34-ball 50. Earlier, Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and opted to bowl first, and Bangladesh were reduced to 0/2 after the first two overs. However, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain stepped up when their team needed them the most to drum up an important 83-run partnership that helped Bangladesh put on 139/5 from 20 overs.

Sri Lanka dominates the game

Sri Lanka completely dominated Bangladesh on Saturday as they won the game by six wickets in just 14.4 overs. All members of the Sri Lankan squad played their respective parts to perfection on Saturday as the bowlers did their job in the first innings, and batters in the chase made easy work of it. As per Bangladesh, it is hard to see how they recover from this and qualify for the next stage.

Player of the Match

Kamil Mishara received the player of the match award on Saturday for his brilliant 46 runs off just 32 balls. “I am very happy to win a game for my country again. Pathum just asked me to play my normal game and to take my time. I just believed always in myself, and worked hard for it,” Mishara said after the game.

The game also marked Hasarnaga’s successful return to the Sri Lankan squad as the spinner returned to the national team after an injury caused him to miss some of Sri Lanka’s previous T20I games outside of the Asia Cup. Hasarnaga, Thushara, and Chammera were instrumental to Sri Lanka’s victory, as these bowlers picked up some big wickets early on in the game, while maintaining good economic over rates. Hasaranga bowled some of the most impressive spells today.
