WTA 1000 Dubai final

Tauson – Andreeva: 22.02.2025 16:00 CEST

H2H: first meeting

Clara Tauson has won her last five matches. The last match she played before the WTA 1000 Dubai was in Doha. She retired in the opening round against Mertens due to a stomach issue. However, it was not an injury, and she is fully fit this week in Dubai.

This week in Dubai, Clara won the opening round match against Sramkova in straight sets. She served well throughout the match, not offering any breakpoints. After winning the opening set in a tiebreak, Clara dominated in the second set, winning 6-0. In the second round, Clara upset Sabalenka in straight sets. She was dominant from the start until the end and played probably the best match of her career. In the quarterfinals, she won against Noskova in straight sets. Clara saved three set points in the opening set and played brilliantly under pressure. In the second set, Tauson served great and offered no breakpoints.

Today, in the semifinals, Muchova had no answer for Tauson’s game. Clara won in three tight sets. Her serve was broken in the deciding set, but she quickly broke back and kept her composure. At the beginning of the season, Tauson won the title in Auckland. So far in her young career, she has won three titles and aims for the fourth tomorrow.

Mirra Andreeva has won five straight matches. Last week in Doha, Mirra lost in the second round against Sramkova in three tight sets. This week in Dubai, the Russian teenager became the youngest woman to reach a WTA 1000 final.

Mirra demolished Avanesyan 6-2 6-1 in the opening round within an hour. She was unplayable from the start until the end. In the second round, Andreeva defeated Vondrousova in straight sets. After winning the opening set 7-5, Mirra leveled up and won the second set 6-0. Stearns also had no answer for Mirra’s game in the third round. Mirra lost only two games, winning 6-1 6-1. In the quarterfinals, Andreeva upset Swiatek in straight sets. Her aggressive tennis paid off, as Iga could not keep up with her. In the second set, Mirra trailed 1-3. However, she won five straight games and comfortably closed out the match.

Today, in the semifinals, Mirra played another incredible match. She defeated Rybakina in three tight sets after spending over two hours on the court. In the deciding set, Mirra trailed 1-3. Once again, she kept her composure and won five straight games. She is the first woman to beat three Grand Slam champions at the same event since Maria Sharapova.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Tauson is the underdog in this matchup, but we disagree. Both players are playing their best tennis, and they are both young and inexperienced. We expect a very tight match that could go either way.

That being said, Tauson covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Clara Tauson +2.5 games handicap @1.91 @bet365
