Transfer deadline day LIVE: Julian Alvarez latest, Man Utd double deal, Liverpool launch new bid

Birmingham City have excess players that will have to move on today.

Without including prospective new signing Mohammed Fuseini, Blues already have 25 senior players that will need to be registered. Fuseini and any other players Blues add will move them over the 25-player limit.

The obvious candidates to depart are Kanya Fujimoto and Marvin Ducksch, both of whom are out of favour under Chris Davies.

Elsewhere, Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright could move late in the window in search of regular first team football elsewhere.

Aston Villa are expected to confirm two signings today - Ibrahim Mbaye and Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Both players were in attendance at Villa Park for Monday night’s match against Arsenal.

Unai Emery said he does not expect any more arrivals beyond those two players. He also confirmed that Tammy Abraham will stay at the club after deciding he does not want to leave.

Meanwhile, a few youngsters can be expected to depart on loan, while Leon Bailey needs to find a new club, with Sevilla and Al Diriyah both interested in him.

Once Harwood-Bellis and Mbaye are confirmed as new signings, Villa will have made 10 additions to their squad, following the departures of Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne, Ezri Konsa, Emi Martínez and Ollie Watkins.

Fulham will be among the Premier League's busiest clubs today as the winds of change continue to sweep through Craven Cottage.

The west Londoners are hoping to wrap up a £21.4million deal for Swedish central midfielder Hugo Larsson, who was in London for talks with Fulham and one other unnamed rival last week.

Any deal remains subject to a medical, though an agreement is in place with Eintracht Frankfurt.

They are also working on signing another midfielder: Real Madrid's 22-year-old prospect Manuel Angel.

If they can get that one over the line, it will be a hat-trick of signings from Los Blancos, where Alvaro Arbeloa previously managed, following the acquisitions of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios.

Furthermore, they are also continuing to probe for Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu but the Spanish club have not responded to Fulham's latest offer for the Romanian.

Augsburg centre-back Chrislain Matsima, subject of two rejected bids from Crystal Palace earlier in the window, has also emerged as a late target.

Deadline day is rarely dull where Forest are concerned. We could see a fair bit of business done today - or it could end up being relatively quiet in terms of actual deals done.

Either way, it is unlikely to be boring! Recent days have already seen some twists and turns, and no doubt the next few hours will be the same. For Forest, it is mostly about trying to pounce if an opportunity arises. Hence testing of the waters with teenage talents Harrison Armstrong (now staying at Everton) and Trey Nyoni (reported £30m bid turned down by Liverpool). It was clearly worth a try where both are concerned, but neither were 'must-haves' for squad strength.

Marinakis loves trying to get a good deal late on in a window, so there could still be a few more surprises. Midfield the most likely area in that respect.

There has been talk about potentially going for a goalkeeper. But if this one doesn't come off, it wouldn't be a disaster as Sels is a very capable keeper.

In terms of outgoings, Zach Abbott is set to join Southampton on loan. Seems like there could be an option to buy included in that deal. Reports suggesting Morato is heading to West Ham on the same kind of deal. If both get done, that would leave Forest slightly thin on the ground at the back, although Ryan Yates has stepped in there before...

Stephy Mavididi is closing in on a move to Championship side Watford on deadline day, LeicestershireLive understands.

The winger has been left out of the City team for the last four games amid speculation over his future. Mavididi joined the club from Montpellier in 2023 and played a huge role in their promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca.

However, after two difficult seasons that coincided with the club's fall to League One, Mavididi has been linked with leaving Leicester throughout the summer. Russell Martin confirmed on the day of the Notts County game that he was not in contention for selection amid uncertainty over his future, with a bid previously turned down for the former Arsenal youth player.

Mavididi has been linked with Derby County, Rangers and Middlesbrough this summer. Now, it's understood that the winger is set to return to London and sign for Watford.

We’re on the 79th and final day of the summer transfer window and Manchester United still haven’t addressed one of the most glaring gaps in their squad.

Left-back was an obvious area of weakness last season when Tyrell Malacia was in reserve to Luke Shaw and when the peripheral Dutchman departed, making a signing there was a priority.

But with Lewis Hall and Myles Lewis-Skelly staying put at Newcastle and Arsenal, they have been passive with their approach elsewhere.

There is reluctance to commit too much financially, as they are likely to return for Hall next summer, while Ineos want to end the days of stopgap loan signings such as Marcel Sabitzer, Wout Weghorst and Sergio Reguilon.

Trying to navigate a season that involves four competitions with Shaw as your only natural left-back is clearly a risk that shouldn’t be worth taking, however.

Supporters will be screaming the name of 19-year-old Harry Amass, but United don’t think he’s the answer. They were willing to do business with Burnley over a permanent move for just £3.5m.

That deal is now off, but expect Amass to still leave today, regardless of whether a senior left-back comes in. A loan to the Championship now looks more likely.

Everton are set for a whirlwind day of business as the transfer deadline approaches.

Tim Iroegbunam is due to undergo a medical at Hull City after the Tigers returned for the midfielder in the closing stages of the window.

Nathan Patterson is also on the cusp of a departure, with the right-back closing on a move to Torino.

Those deals are set against a backdrop of further moves that are already advanced. Everton have agreed a deal starting at around £40m with AS Monaco for US forward Folarin Balogun and have reached an agreement with Manchester City over the return of Jack Grealish on loan.

Iliman Ndiaye, meanwhile, is due to head to the Etihad after an initial £60m agreement was reached with City over the winger. Beto was in Italy on Monday to work towards the completion of a move to Fiorentina for a reported £15m.

None of those deals have been signed off but all were moving towards completion on Tuesday morning.

Breakthroughs over Iroegbunam and Patterson came on Monday. Iroegbunam’s move to Hull would be for £15m rising to a potential £22m, while Patterson’s departure would also be on a permanent deal.

Everton are moving towards a right-back signing, with Kenny Tete targeted in a £9m move from Fulham.

Left-back Adam Aznou completed a loan switch to Malaga on Monday.

This could be a frantic 14 hours or so!

City are working on deals for Enzo Fernandez and Iliman Ndiaye and will hope to pull both off today in what would be a near £200m deadline day double deal.

The Blues have tracked Fernandez for most of the summer but Chelsea want £120million+ for the midfielder, which would mean City breaking their transfer record for the second time this summer following the £116m arrival of Elliot Anderson.

Enzo Maresca is a huge fan of Fernandez and wants the Argentina international to bolster a midfield that has seen key departures with Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders all departing this summer.

Meanwhile, Everton's Ndiaye is expected to move to the Etihad in a £65million move after City pivoted to the Senegal forward after talks with Liverpool over a switch for Cody Gakpo broke down.

Ndiaye had been wanted by Tottenham but City are in pole position to conclude a move for the 26-year-old, who would essentially be a replacement for Omar Marmoush with the Egypt international having left for Spurs on loan with a £60m obligation to make the deal permanent next summer.

Those will be the two incomings to watch and there could be plenty of departures with Jack Grealish set to head out on loan and question marks over whether the likes of Claudio Echeverri will remain with the Blues or depart on a loan deal while Juma Bah is posied to move to German side Augsburg.

Harvey Elliott will complete a season-long loan move to Valencia on transfer deadline day. The versatile midfielder flew into Spain overnight ahead his medical.

His short-term switch to Mestalla could end with a new contract at Liverpool but his current deal runs until 2028 anyway, which means that the Reds will still be able to get a transfer fee for him if they decide to sell him permanently next summer.

Liverpool's squad is threadbare at present though, particularly in the No.10 position where Andoni Iraola has so far utilised Florian Wirtz and where Elliott is perhaps best suited.

Elliott admittedly hasn't played much football for the past two years under Arne Slot and Unai Emery at Aston Villa but are the Reds leaving themselves short here?

Who plays as the No.10 when Wirtz needs a rest or picks up an injury? Given the central midfield options are not massively stocked, it feels as though Liverpool are willingly stripping their squad of options at a time when Andoni Iraola has admitted it is "quite thin".

Bradley Barcola could be a huge star at Liverpool but does his addition suddenly easy those concerns of Iraola and many supporters? Many would argue no.

Newcastle United will claw back around £4million for Nick Woltemade after Juventus agreed to pay a hefty loan fee for the Germany international.

The club record signing, who signed just 12 months ago for £69million, leaves just weeks into the Matthias Jaissle era and as the club prepare to announce the arrival of Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Chronicle Live understands that Woltemade also had the option to sign for RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Turkish side Galatasaray, but Juventus won the race.

Woltemade did not want to leave Newcastle at first with his preferred choice to stay and fight for his place. But we understand he was told that he did not fit into the current playing style at United with Jaissle preferring rapid players to hit teams on the break.

It was only yesterday that official talks began on Woltemade's Newcastle exit, and the player asked for extra time to think about the move, but came to the conclusion it was pointless staying where he was not expected to play.

According to Ben Jacobs, Wrexham are one of several clubs who have made an approach for Jamie Vardy.

However, in the same report, it is claimed that Vardy will not be making a decision on his future, or signing for a club, on deadline day.

Vardy is a free agent after leaving Serie A side Cremonese at the end of last season and has a number of offers on the table from England, Brazil and the US.

Meanwhile, Vardy’s former team-mate Wout Faes is expected to stay in England and join West Ham United.

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that a verbal agreement has been reached between the two sides.

Everton could end up being the busiest club on deadline day, as the club works on a number of deals.

The latest news is that Nathan Patterson is set to join Torino, and Hull City have agreed a £22m package to sign Tim Iroegbunam.

In terms of incomings, Everton have agreed a £40m deal for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun and Jack Grealish looks set to return to the club on loan from Manchester City.

However, The Times reports that Everton are unlikely to sign both Balogun and Richarlison, and it is understood the Brazil international is also considering other offers to leave Tottenham.

It could be an interesting few hours at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground.

Now many expected Liverpool to be one of the busiest clubs in the closing days of the transfer window, but it appears they may be in for a quiet deadline day.

The Times is reporting that Bradley Barcola is likely to be Liverpool’s final signing of the transfer window, with Cody Gakpo’s proposed move to Manchester City all but over.

The Reds, though, did confirm late last night that Stefan Bajcetic has left the club to join Celta Vigo.

The midfielder returns to the Spanish club after five-and-a-half years with the Reds, in which he made 22 senior appearances and scored once.

The Mirror's John Cross reports how Arsenal are moving for Lyon's Malick Fofana with a beat-the-deadline move for the 21-year-old.

The Gunners have revamped their attack this summer, with Christos Tzolis joining and Gabriel Martinelli and Lenadro Trossard departing. Fofana would cost around £50m with the Gunners in talks with the player's agents about a move.

He might not be the only deadline day incoming at Emirates Stadium, with a move for Julian Alvarez still a possibility.
