India's RECORD hockey win!

The final scoreline of 19-0 against Uzbekistan in the Asian Games is India's third biggest win in the Asian Games, after 22-0 against Hong Kong in 1982 and 21-0 against Kazakhstan in 2018. Those 19 goals include eight from Deepika, three from Ishika, two each from Neha and Lalthantluangi, and one apiece from Lalremsiami, Baljeet, Sakshi Rana, Navneet Kaur.

INDIA WIN SILVER!

India -- Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod -- amass 1898 points to win the SILVER medal in 10m Air Rifle Women Team.

China won the gold medal with a record-breaking world record score of 1904.2. The previous best was 1902. Not to forget, there are three Chinese shooters in the individual final.

Women's shooting qualification

Elavenil Valarivan wraps up her campaign with 633.5 points and finished seventh on the list. She will be through to the final, alongside Sonam Uttam Maskar, who stands third.

Record for Deepika Sherawat!

Eight goals! You read it right. That's a record -- most goals by an individual in Asian Games hockey. And five of those came from penalty corners. For India, the score reads 19-0 with less than five minutes remaining.

India's biggest hockey win loading?

India have scored 16 goals past Uzbekistan already. And we have one more quarter left in this group-stage match. For the record, India's biggest-ever win at the Asiad in women's hockey is 22-0, dating back to 1982 in New Delhi against Hong Kong. India had finished with the silver medal in that edition of the Games.

India's first medal CONFIRMED!

That comes in Mixed Martial Arts, the sport that has made its debut at the Asian Games!

Suchika Tariyal storms into Traditional 60kg Semis, defeating Mongolian athlete Altanchimeg Baigalmaa in QF.

10 goals for India…and still counting!

That's an absolute demolition job. 10 goals for India! Five from Deepika. The last one came from a penalty corner. What a start this has been for India to their Asiad women's hockey campaign.

It's time for MMA action!

Suchika Tariyal, who represented India in Judo at the 2022 CWG and in kurash in the last Asiad, comes onto the mat. She is up against Mongolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa for a place in the semifinal.

Rishabh Das storms into 100m backstroke final

Meanwhile, in the pool, Rishabh Das has qualified for the final of the men's 100m backstroke with an impressive timing of 54.85s, the fifth fastest overall from the heats. It is young Rishabh's personal best in the event, previously 55.44s, set at this year's national championships.

Sonam makes early top-eight push

In shooting, the women's 10m women's rifle qualification is underway at the General Shooting Gallery in Aichi. At the end of first relay featuring 29 shooters, India's Sonam Maskar finished third with a score of 634.1 and on course to make the final. China's 19-year-old world No.1 Zifei Wand takes the pole with 636.8 followed by South Korea's world No.5 Ban Hyojin (634.9).

Vidarsa Vinod, with 630.4, is ninth and out of contention to make the final. India's medal contender Elavenil Valarivan to shoot in the second relay shortly. Top eight shooters qualify.

Quimcy returns, but looks in discomfort. She is clutching her back as she serves. You can see the struggle. India, trailing 5-9 when Set 2 resumed, managed to win just one more point. India lose another bronze-medal match and Quimcy is distraught.

Lalremsiami strikes in the sixth minute, and Deepika finds the back of the net in another four minutes, and India lead 2-0 against Uzbekistan in the first quarter.

Asian Games 2026 Day 2 LIVE Updates: Injury break for Quimcy

Asian Games 2026 Day 2 LIVE Updates: This is unfortunate for Quimcy. She has taken an injury break in the middle of Set 2. Obviously, she had no break between the two bronze-medal matches, and her back is hurting. If I’m not wrong, she just told her team that she can’t serve. The umpire came over to check on her, and India have been given an extension, leading to a complaint from the Vietnam team.

Asian Games 2026 Day 2 LIVE Updates: In this event, teammates have to pass the ball at least once to each other and take a maximum of three touches before putting it across to the other side of the table.

Right now, India have bounced back from 6-all against their Vietnamese opponents to take an 8-6 lead, before the score is levelled again. This is turning out to be quite an interesting draw.

Asian Games 2026 Day 2 LIVE Updates: Quimcy’s fight isn’t over

Asian Games 2026 Day 2 LIVE Updates: A singles campaign that began with a stunning victory over Japanese world No.7 Yuina Sakamoto in the group stage ended with a close defeat for Quimcy D'souza against the same opponent in the bronze medal match. It's been that kind of an Asian Games debut for India's only woman teqball entrant -- so near yet so far. She has another crack at the cherry, though, in the mixed doubles bronze medal match with Mohamed Anas Baig. In tears now, Quimcy will have to pull herself together quickly for the upcoming mixed match.
