Ghana call up nine players ahead of AFCON qualifiers - MyJoyOnline

Ghana have added nine footballers to the squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia, as well as a friendly against Morocco. The decision was made by head coach Carlos Queiroz due to medical uncertainty regarding some players, MyJoyOnline reports, citing the Ghana Football Association.

New squad call-ups

The team have called up defenders Jonas Adjetey of Wolfsburg, Alidu Seidu of Nice, Ebenezer Annan of Rapid Bucharest and Roxon Yeboah of Osasuna. Midfielder Rahim Ibrahim, who represents Slovan Bratislava, has also been added to the squad.

The attacking line has been reinforced with Brandon Thomas-Asante of Coventry City, Mohammed Fusseini of Derby County, Benjamin Tetteh of Kalba and Felix Afena-Gyan of Iğdır FK.

Preparations in Accra

The Black Stars began their training camp in Accra on Monday, September 21, 2026. The team are preparing for two AFCON qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia, as well as an international friendly against Morocco. On Tuesday, the national team are due to continue training ahead of these games.
