UEFA Women’s EURO 2025: Lauren James dazzles for England in win over the Netherlands

England have kept their EURO 2025 hopes firmly alive with a resounding victory over the Netherlands, defeating them 4-0 on Wednesday (9 July).

In need of three points to give themselves a chance to defend the prestigious women's football title, the Lionesses opened their account through Lauren James, whose thumping strike was beyond the reach of the Dutch goalkeeper.

Just before the break, Georgia Stanway’s half-volley from outside the area travelled through a sea of bodies before nestling into the bottom corner, putting Sarina Wiegman’s side on the path to victory.

A relentless display from the defending champions was only aided with 30 minutes to go, James adding her second of the night from close range before Ella Toone added a fourth seven minutes later.

After a lacklustre opening defeat to France just days ago, this was a response from England packed with intent.
