Erik ten Hag is still under pressure of the sack with the Dutchman needing to turn Manchester United's awful form around if he is to keep his job at Old Trafford

Manchester United host Brentford on Saturday with the pressure still firmly on boss Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has survived the international break, but if United's poor form continues he may be on his way out of Old Trafford. Coincidentally, one of the managers under consideration to replace him is Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

The Bees chief has now spoken out on the reports linking him to the job at Old Trafford. Elsewhere, controlling co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been backed to turn United around by club legend David Beckham.

And Ten Hag has been handed a welcome boost as he deals with an escalating injury crisis in defence. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United news.

Frank breaks silence on United links

Thomas Frank has insisted he is happy at Brentford amid talk of Manchester United interest. But the Dane refused to close the door completley on taking over the Red Devils if Erik ten Hag is sacked.

"I've said many times I'm very happy at Brentford. Who knows what will happen in the future. Maybe I stay here for many years. I'm open, maybe something happens. But first and foremost, very happy, just working very hard every day to make the club better," he said.

"That's because it's very difficult to predict the future. Who knows what will happen. How many coaches have been at the same club more than six years? Very few."

Malacia nears return

Tyrell Malacia is finally nearing a return to fitness, more than a year since he last played a game. The left-back arrived from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022, but missed the entirety of last season with a knee injury.

The Dutchman has also missed the first 10 games of the current campaign, with Ten Hag facing an escalating crisis in defence. But it now appears that Malacia could make his return before the end of October.

Saturday's clash with Brentford will come too soon for Malacia, but the three upcoming matches after that could be possible return dates for him - West Ham away on October 27, the Carabao Cup clash against Leicester on October 30 or a home game against Chelsea on November 3.

Beckham offers Ratcliffe tip

David Beckham has warned Sir Jim Ratcliffe that he needs to bring success back to Manchester United quickly. The Red Devils icon believes United fans have grown tired of their side's poor performances in recent years.

"I really like Jim, I've met him a few times over the years with a few mutual friends. I think that he's a fan and obviously he's a great businessman as well, one of the best and one of the biggest," Beckham told the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.

"I think the fans had lost faith with the leadership over the years. I think we've been quite patient as United fans over the years, but we want those good old days back. We want those days back, and the sooner the better."
